  • Ideas please, novelty events, backyard special Olympics?

Some crazy friends have decided to hold a special Olympics in their backyard. I have been put on the committee and have to come up with atleast one event, the sillier the better. My ideas so far have been lame and so I would appreciate some help? The event does need to somehow resemble an Olympic event.Thank you.

  • Are leek roots edible?

I saw a chinese cooking show and I think, (really not too sure) they were using whole leeks, roots and all. They were saying that the roots are where all the flavour is. I have leeks growing in garden and before I go using the whole thing roots and all I thought I had better find out if they really are edible. Thanks

  • DIY Gas heater service?

I have a six burner natural gas heater. I have owned it for 2 winters. I think it needs a service but I cant see that there would be too much involved so I want to do it myself. It has been turning itself off now and then and the flame is blue on a couple of the burners.

Both houses circa 1890. A delapidation report of my house was done before demolishment. I have extensive damage to the wall that is now exposed, its a real mess with mortar everywhere, large gaping holes where the houses touched at ground level. The demolisher said builders would have to remove the rest of the house next door because my wall was coming away. My exterior wall wasn't meant to be exposed the bricks dont match the rest of the house. The house that was demolished was also part of the dividing fence. Council put conditions on the demolisher and developer that state my house is " to be repaired and weather sealed at point of contact" I have already had an argument with the demolisher about the need to fix damage to my roof, not a good sign. Anyone know what legislation relates NSW ty

What about people with low incomes? And families struggling? Can they get treatment for free somewhere? We have the option here to have private health insurance but its not compulsory. How much is your insurance, say basic, for a family etc?

  • What can we do as a community other than report people on Answers for preying on the vulnerable? any suggestio

One guy actually went round asking people to send him $20 for a fitness program, another offering loans to people in debt. Do they have no shame. I think we as a community need to answer so others recognise how wrong it is and not get scammed but then I dont really want to answer these questions. Any ideas?

I am new here so I suspect this question has been asked many times. Will anyone admit to this and explain why they feel the need?

  • What strategies can I implement to encourage teens to clean the house?

There are 6 teens living in the home and they are aware of their responsibilities in regard to household chores. We have tried rosters, penalties, house meetings to discuss the filth they live in and asked them to solve the issue. Nothing has worked.

What on earth is a baked ziti, this doesnt sound good. Im having awful images of some strange animal roasting in the oven and a frito pie just sounds alien. I came across these odd foods while answering a question for someone wanting to know what dish to take to her sons school party. Thank you to all who answer.
