TLDR; Do you think it would be irresponsible to take a gap semester so that my GPA doesn't suffer in a program I hate?
I've always been very studious and never considered taking time off school, but I just started a new program and I've realized it's not the direction I want to go. I found a program that sounds perfect for me at UMichigan, but if I was accepted, I could only start in the fall semester of 2021. I would consider dropping the winter 2020 semester and working full time until then (so my GPA doesn't drop in a program I don't even like), but I won't know if I'm accepted to UMich until at least February, so I don't want to drop out of school for nothing. Plus, I want to do a semester abroad in a few years, so taking a gap semester to work would probably help to pay for that.2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 month ago
What are some common phrases that people use but dont really require much thought? I don’t know how else to put it other than existing for comfort rather than to be useful. For example, when people say “what’s up/how are you” and you just say good because it’s not that deep, or “someone will be right with you” to keep a client happy...

I'm not on the pill but I think I might have sex this week, which means I don't have time to start the pill. Is just a condom safe enough for this once? I've been told you should have 2 methods of protection and I don't want to be stupid about it. Can I rely on a condom and a morning after pill if needed?1 AnswerWomen's Health12 months ago
I have to break up with my boyfriend of a year and a half (were 19 so that’s significant) because I think I’m in love with our mutual best friend. He has a girlfriend so it’s not like I’m hoping to get anything out of it but I can’t keep stringing my boyfriend along. We’ve grown up with the same group of friends which is how we started dating and I really don’t want to lose him and all of them, but I know you can’t really go back to being friends with an ex. What can I say to break up with him that won’t end dramatically? I just want to keep it as clean as possible.3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 year ago
Like if he said “you’re so beautiful to me,” would you find that cuter and more intimate or do you think it just sounds like he thinks you are, but you’re not actually as much as he’s saying2 AnswersPolls & Surveys2 years ago
Assuming you’re not against alcohol in general, what do you think about losing your virginity when you’re drunk and can’t think straight? Of course, it’s still a sin, but what if someone was planning on saving themselves for marriage but then drank too much and went too far?9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 years ago
My boyfriend Adam & I have been together for 8 months. We were friends throughout high school & we have the same group of friends. Before I liked him, I liked his friend Mason for a few months, & Adam knows that. This weekend, we went to a cottage with our friends, & because Adam got a little too excited about his bottle of vodka, I ended up spending a lot of time with Mason. I'm the only one who didn't go to the same college as everyone else, so I was really excited about hanging out with them, especially Mason since I hadn't seen him in months. The two of us always clicked more than anyone else in the group (other than me & Adam, of course), & we had a really great time. We were the only ones that decided to jump into the lake together, & we sat next to each other watching a movie & he ended up falling asleep on my shoulder, but it was totally innocent. Both me and Mason have apologized to Adam if he was uncomfortable with anything & everything's fine but I feel like he was holding back because he doesn't want to be territorial. The problem now is that I really miss Mason & I don't know how to fix it. I really miss when we used to be almost best friends, but now I'm scared to hang out with him alone. Adam keeps assuring me that he doesn't mind if we do, but I'm scared of hurting him. The worst part is that I'm terrified of developing feelings for Mason. I'm scared that it could happen since I liked him before, but I really want to hang out with him more2 AnswersSingles & Dating2 years ago
I just started dating my best friend. We’ve been through a lot and it took us a long time to get here, but we’re finally official and I’m really happy. He’s also my first boyfriend. Last night, we were out (just at an event not a date) with my older sister and his brother, and they hit it off pretty well. They’ve been texting all day and she just ditched me to go out with him in the spur of the moment. I’m not even mad about that, though, I’m just a little upset that after everything I’ve been through I’m finally happy and she instantly ‘steals my thunder’ kind of. I don’t even know how to explain it, I want her to be happy but I feel like of all the guys she’s been talking to and she’s been into recently the one she goes for has to be my boyfriends brother. Do you think it’s wrong to be upset?3 AnswersSingles & Dating3 years ago
I just got what I think is a cold sore on my lip. I'm a virgin and I've only ever kissed one guy and the last time was 3 months ago, but cold sores are a symptom of herpes, right? Does that mean I definitely have herpes or is there any possibility of anything else?3 AnswersSkin Conditions3 years ago
There's this guy I've been friends with for almost 5 years and we've always had one of those jokingly flirty friendships. We had never hung out alone, but a few weeks ago, he texted me asking if I wanted to go see a movie so we did, but it didn't give off date vibes. We have the kind of friendship where everyone asks why we're not dating and we just laugh, but lately I've been kind of into him and I can't tell if he is or not. I didn't feel like he was, but our mutual friends keep making comments that sound like he might and he's super sweet and keeps telling me he's going to ask me to prom in this amazing way. If he is, there's problem #2. My family is all Christian (not hyper religious strict Catholics, but my dads the youth leader at our protestant church and we all believe in god, myself included). My parents love this guy, but don't want me to date him cause he's an atheist, which I agree with cause it'd make things complicated in the long run, but I might be falling hard for this guy and if he ever asked me out I don't think I could bring myself to say no. I don't want to go behind my parents back, but I don't know what I would do if he asked me. Also, if you could try to look at this from my perspective and not just say something about your opinion on religion, it'd be appreciated5 AnswersSingles & Dating3 years ago
I've been friends with a guy for almost 5 years and we hang out all the time in groups. We have one of those jokingly flirty friendships but I've been kind of into him for the past few weeks. Yesterday, he texted my asking if I wanted to go see a movie. We've never hung out alone before but I didn't really think anything of it. He said "If anyone else wants to come that's cool too but I need someone to go see a movie with," so I figured it was just a friends thing, but when I mentioned it to a few of our mutual friends, they were all convinced that it's a date. What do you think?2 AnswersSingles & Dating3 years ago

Bit of a long story but last night, I was hanging out with friend A and he called friend B to find something out for friend C since B and C just broke up. Friend A had said he was alone and after he hung up, friend B called me to confirm that friend A wasn't with me. I lied and said he wasn't. Later that night, B found out I lied and called me saying he wasn't so much mad as shocked because I've literally never lied to them before, but his voice sounded pissed. Friend A called him later to tell him that it was his fault that he asked me to lie, but I know I still shouldn't have done it. Apparently now B isn't mad at me but I feel absolutely terrible and like I've lost him and his trust. Is there anything I can do to win it back?3 AnswersFriends3 years ago
I'm going to be home alone for a week and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I've heard people have moved everything in the house an inch to the left to mess with everyone when they come back. Something like that would be fun, but also anything to do for fun by yourself. I'm a teenage girl btw3 AnswersFriends3 years ago
