  • Amount of liver damage from alcohol and prolonged use of meds?

I've been drinking everyday for about the past seven weeks. Sometimes it's 2 glasses of wine; sometimes it's 4 glasses. Sometimes it's 1/2 a bottle of vodka. I know this can wreak havoc on the liver and I've been starting to cut back.

But I've been growing concerned, because I just recently read that prolonged use of antibiotics (ampicillin) can also cause harm to your liver. Prescribed by a dermatogolist for skin problems about 5 weeks ago, I take it twice a day at 500 mg. My skin problems have gone away - so I was going to stop taking them today, after more research.

I've been starting to get small bruises on my arms and legs with no apparent cause, along with muscle aches. Should I take milk thistle? Do a liver cleanse (however restrictive and even more damaging)? I've been taking Livotrit Plus by Biotech twice a day, since I started drinking. Thanks!

  • How likely is it that I could get pregnant w/ my bf using the "pull-out" method?

I want statistics. I've been w/ my bf for almost two years, and for the first year we were together I was on birth control. I was having negative symptoms in my mood, so I stopped using it. We've had sex about two or three times a week since then - using the "pull-out" method, because otherwise my bf can't orgasm. Just when he thinks he's about to....we stick a condom on. But my period is a week late this month. I want to buy a pregnancy test, but keep stopping myself because I think it's SO unlikely to get pregnant from the "pull-out" method. How likely? Anyone have statistics? Thanks!

  • Green stool, bad diet + red wine lately?

Gross I know, but I've had green stool for my last 3 bowel movements in the past few days. The only huge change in my diet is that I've been drinking at least 4 glasses of red wine a day, since Sunday. I hear that can cause this. I've also been eating greasy, cheesy, highly processed and fried foods because of the booze! But my stool doesn't "float".

The only other symptom is that my period is a week late, but it's highly unlikely that I'm pregnant....we use condoms. Anyone know what's wrong?!?! Thanks!

  • How long does a letter take to get from Orange Park, CA to Federal Way, WA?

Using the USPS mailing system, I was thinking that the average delivery time was 2-3 days, but this letter's going to a different state. No paticular fast mail or snail mail way of sending it. No five-day delivery, nothing like that. Maybe it will take about a week? Let me know! Thank you!!!!

  • Moved out, ex-boyfriend still has 8 months on co-signed lease?

I was wondering if there was some way (in Western Washington State) if I can get my name off of our lease. I moved out two weeks ago. I emailed my [now] EX-boyfriend and told him that I would pay half of the rent for the next 3 months, which would be enough time for him to find a roomate. He was abrupt, and basically said that if he didn't want to find a roomate in the next 8 months, he wouldn't have to because I'm on the lease. Legally obligated. There must be some law that states that I don't have to pay 1/2 the for the entire remainder of the lease, since I'm not living there anymore! Help?! (There's a reason I broke up with this a**hole)

  • How often should someone of my weight & age exercise?

I'm a 20 year old female, 5'4" and 104-ish pounds. I don't want to lose weight or anything like that, but I was wondering how often I should exercise to stay healthy. I eat VERY healthy (eating at least 1800 calories per day) and try to exercise on an elliptical as often as possible.....about 5-6 days per week for 40-45 minutes. This is only my 2nd week of exercising. I did not exercise yesterday and do not feel like exercising today. But I feel guilty for taking two days off in a row! How often should I exercise??? Thanks! =)

ps. NO I do not strength train or do aerobics at all, and I have no interest to do anything except cardio at this point. Please don't say I should - this I am already aware of.

  • New Weslo Momentum CT 5.9 elliptical? Accurate calorie count?

I just bought a new Weslo Momentum CT 5.9 elliptical from Walmart for $315. I used it for the first time today, but the readings seems to be off. It told me that I'd burned 550 calories after working out for 50 minutes at level 2. I was huffing and puffing, but even if I was at a dead sprint for 50 minutes, that seems like a lot of calories. Plus it didn't ask me for my weight, age, or height.

Does anyone know how accurate these ellipticals can be with their calorie counts?

  • How long do I cook italian meatballs on stove in skillet?

I'm making italian meatballs and they are cooking right now on the stove, in a skillet! I have the temperature on medium heat, and just turned them over, but the sides still look kind of pale. How long should I let them cook for? Thanks!

  • Julie & Julia movie! Recipe for....?

In the beginning, before Julie even started working her way through Julia Child's cookbook, she was making something that looked soooo good! It was french bread that she toasted with butter in a pan on the stove, then topped the slices with what looked like red and yellow sun-dried tomatoes, basil, salt & pepper....probably tossed in olive oil before being placed on top of the bread slices. Is there a recipe for something like this? My boyfriend LOVES tomatoes. Thanks! =)

  • Just ate nachos, how long before I should drink alcohol?

I don't want to lose a lot of the alcohol that I consume, because I heard that fat can absorb alcohol. So I just ate a medium-sized plate of chips and cheese. How long do I have to wait for my food to be digested before I can drink? I thought about 20-30 minutes, but I'm not sure. Thanks! Oh - and I'm going to have a few beers.

  • UTI's once a month, peeing 90% blood? Bigger trouble?

I get urinary tract infections about once a month. Lately, it seems as though my infections cause me to pee more blood than urine for about 48 hours. My doctor keeps prescribing me Bactrim because I can't tolerate a stronger antibiotic like Nitrofur. She is growing rather concerned, and wants me to come in when I don't have a UTI for another pee test - to see if there's blood that I can't see in it. I think I might have kidney stones, but I'm only 20 years old. Is there something wrong with my kidneys? I don't want to pay for another doctor's visit if it's unnecessary. Thanks!

  • Too much sleep? Constantly tired!?

I sleep for up to 13 hours per day. I go to bed around 11pm and wake up around 11am. If I try to get up any sooner (like 9am), I feel suuuuper drowsy and unfocused - like it's the middle of the night. I am 20 years old and am relatively happy with my life. I don't fall asleep during the day, unless I purposefully take a nap - rare. During the night, I always have nightmares. I don't think I snore or have sleep apnea. I don't take any medication or triazadone or melatonin. What's wrong with me?! Why do I need so much sleep? It would be great if I could only sleep for 8-9 hours like everyone else. Thanks!

  • Candle-making...do I have to buy a double-boiler?

I'm new to candle-making and am currently purchasing supplies. I wanted to know if I needed to purchase an (expensive) double-boiler, or if I could just use a large aluminum pouring pot and my stove. Is the stove ok, or should I buy a hot-plate? I don't see the difference. Thanks!

  • How long will Puerto Rican rum stay good, once opened?

I have some rum (for emergencies, haha) stored in a kitchen cupboard. It's opened - well duh - because I poured some of it in a water bottle. But I screwed the lid on really tight! Does the rum need to be refridgerated or is it fine in the cupboard? Should I get a better container? Thanks!

  • Kidney pain after recently treating a UTI?

I just finished taking antibiotics (Bactrim) for my 6th-ever UTI infection. It was worse this time - I was peeing straight blood and the pain was way worse than usual. But within the first 48 hours, I was at the doctor's and got my prescription. It seemed to be treated. But then last night, I had terrible pain in my right kidney (yes I know where my kidneys are located, upper back under the rib cage) for about ten minutes, and the strong urge to pee. I went but the urge didn't go away for 20 minutes after the kidney pain had subsided, and it really hurt! I'm not feeling physically at my best, kind of "ick"......my temp is 99 degrees when it's usually around 97.5

Is it possible that my UTI was not fully treated?

  • How to turn an AA degree into an AS degree?

I graduated from community college with an Associate of Arts degree, but need an Associate of Science degree for my major, which would be Environmental Management. I actually want to achieve a Masters in it. Do I even need to change my AA degree, or can I transfer to a University with what I have?

  • What kind of paperwork is involved when moving into an apartment?

We've already applied and been approved, but now we have to schedule an appointment to finish the "necessary paperwork" before physically moving in. What does this mean? Deposit stuff? Income? Fire insurance? No leaving the place in ruins? Thanks!

  • Does Burger King still have the large and XL New Moon cups?

Does anyone know if they still have these cups? I know it's been forever since the movie came out...I'm not talking about the water bottles or crowns, either - just the combo cups. I'd like to have one but I'm not sure if Burger King's returned the cups to their normal logo or not...thanks!

  • Can I have my doctor diagnose me and anorexia nervosa but not try to treat it?

I have an eating disorder and really feel like I should tell someone, especially my doctor. But I'm treating it myself by eating more and more each day, telling myself that I am beautiful, and it's working - I'm gaining weight and feeling good about it.

I don't want my doctor to try and send me to someone if I tell her.....I don't want to see any councelors, dietitians, or support groups. I don't want her to send me to a rehab facility or to the psych ward for 72 hours. I know how I should eat - I'm not stupid, and I also don't think that sitting around talking while someone is making $150 an hour listening to me is an effective way to help me.

I want her to diagnose me because I have/had it, it's real, but don't want her to take any action. Is she legally required to take action, or does she have to honor my refusal to seek "proper" treatment? (In general, I don't want any treatment that the health insurance isn't going to cover.)
