  • Circle formula?

I know that the formula for a circle is a^2 + b^2 = r^2, but can a circle also be formed from a^2 - b^2 = r^2? My specific equation is x^2 + 6x - y^2 +10x =17. If it is a circle, i can figure it out, but if it is not, i have no idea of how to do it.

  • Obama or Clinton Pennsylvania ads?

This question is for anyone who lives in Pennsylvania. I am analyzing the demographics that each candidate targets through their ads, and to do this i need not to analyze the ads by themselves, but in relation to where/ when they are placed on TV.

My question is, what TV channels have you seen ads for either candidate run on? Giving this answer would be an incredible help, but of you also remember the specific program it was running during, that would be extremely helpful as well.

  • How partisan are we?

It seems to me that it is unfair for those people who want to get best answers in this topic. In most of these instances, it seems like the asker is not looking for someone who will provide a thoughtful and informed answer, that will perhaps educate the asker as to the facts. Instead, all the asker is looking for is a yes-man, someone who agrees with their point of view. In fact, any opinion that contradicts what the asker thinks is disregarded, regardless of how much evidence and how many sources the answerer provides.

So my question is, is this a microcausm for our political system as a whole? Are we as americans so set in our ways that we are unwilling to consider any opposing opinions? This might not be a problem for a more informed voter, but for those who are unwilling to do the research and find out the truth about candidates, it poses a serious problem. What do you think?
