  • Growling puppy.... any insight?

Hi all, just curious if this is something I should be very concerned about.

We have had our pup for a couple of weeks now, he is 14 weeks old. He is doing awesome, no accidents in the house for a week or so, sleeping through the night, great with the kids, super happy. He's a good boy.

My 2-year-old daughter is his best friend. They cuddle together, he follows her around, plays with her, sits on her lap. She loves him so much and he seems to love all the attention.

Two times now, while he was resting on her lap and she was rubbing his head, he began to growl at her. Like a real GROWL. I hopped up and grabbed him, not sure what would have happened next.

Tell me about growling, please. Why would he growl at her while she is rubbing his head? He's done it twice now, and I'm worried that if I hadn't intervened immediately, he might have snapped at her. I hope that NEVER happens.

Any insight on growling is much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!! Good day!

  • Puppy potty question, please help this debate!?

Maybe you can help with my current household debate.

I take puppy out every hour during the day. At the top of every hour, we go outside, he pees immediately, and we go back inside. It takes all of two minutes, if that. (BTW, just learned puppy is 12 weeks old now.)

When I do this, he doesn't have an accident in the house. I suppose it's because he doesn't have time to.

Party #2 states that taking him out every hour is counterproductive. Apparently, I'm now setting a "pee schedule" for the dog to follow and he will now automatically pee every hour for the rest of his life. Seriously??!

I think it has NOTHING to do with an hourly "pee schedule" and everything to do with the dog learning to NEVER pee (or poop) unless it's on grass.

He's not learning to pee on schedule, he's learning to only pee on grass.

Help me out here, am I right? If I'm not, I'll stand corrected!

  • Puppy will not stop yelping..?

My puppy has been doing AWESOME, potty training with few accidents, and sleeping the night. Well, tonight not so much.

He woke up at 1:45 am and, by the time I got my shoes on, he peed in his crate. That's okay, I ran outside and he tinkled again and pooped.(I'm glad he didn't poop in his crate!

It's bedtime so after he went out he went right back in his crate in the kitchen. I started a routine so I covered his crate with a towel to reiterate it's bed time. It's been 45 minutes now and he's been yelping the entire time.

It's time for sleep so I'm ignoring him, but good grief, 45 minutes? He stops for a few seconds and I think it's over then right back to yelping his little heart out. How much longer do I let him yelp like this?? I'm exhausted, and tempted to just go sleep on the sofa with him :(

I suppose I shouldn't complain, he's been such a good boy, but boy am I exhausted.

Thanks in advance for your input!

  • New rescued puppy: any insight appreciated ;)?

We rescued a puppy from a bad situation yesterday. He's 13 weeks now and both mom and dad are pit mixes, we don't know what they're mixed with.

I hear conflicting opinions on various methods. Do you feed your puppies twice or three times a day? Do you leave water out at all times? Why or why not? What about pee pee pads? He goes on them if he has an accident but someone told me to her rid of them because they're "no good." (Umm, he pees on them if he has an accident!)

My puppy had to go out at 4am and he played with me for 30 minutes before he peed. I stood there ignoring him but he continued to jump on me and play. Not sure if there's anything I can do about that, since he's just a puppy. I'd like to not be outside for 30+ minutes at 4am though. Any insight?

He sleeps in his designated area, he whimpers for 5 or so minutes then goes to sleep. He slept from 9pm to 4am last night, & again from 5am-8am! He's a GOOD BOY! :)

    T.I.A. for your opinions!

  • When moving out of state, do you need a petition to do so, or just a modification of visitation?

My husband is leaving the state for work and we are planning on finding a home in order to be with him in the near future. He is the primary supporter of our family, and he supports my oldest son as though he was his own (he's from a previous relationship) and he always has been there for son.

I have a visitation order in place (standard every other weekend type of deal) with my son's biological father so I was wondering if I should file a petition to modify the existing visitation agreement in order to coincide with the new living arrangements or is there is a different type of petition I should file?

Would I petition to move out of state? I figured a modification of the existing visitation would be appropriate because that would have to change since we will be further away. I don't think a judge would have an issue with us leaving the state because my husband has a great job and considering that my son's father doesn't support him financially (or emotionally for that matter) it would be in my son's best interest to be with us when we leave.

I am 100% open to cooperating when it comes to visitation also so I think a judge would appreciate that as well. As much as it will kill me to be without my son for the summer I'm open to allowing him to spend a couple of summer months with his father, as well as some holiday breaks as well.

If you have any experience with moving out of state I'd love your advice! Thanks in advance for any info :)

  • Is the TV show Greek appropriate for a 10 year old girl?

I have been trying to search for a rating for the television show Greek but I'm unable to find one. My 10 year old step daughter has all the seasons of Greek on DVD. I have never seen the show however I do recall that it is about fraternities (or perhaps sororities?) and I'm afraid they may drink or have sex and that is NOT appropriate for a 10 year old.

Have you seen it? Is it harmless or should I step in and say something about the content and how it's not okay?

    Thanks in advance.

  • My 16 month old constantly has fevers, have you dealt with this?

For well over two months now my daughter has been spiking fevers randomly. Last month she woke up with a fever of 105.1. I was terrified, I rushed her to the ER and they ran every test under sun. The final diagnosis was a lung virus. That fever lasted for 5 or 6 more days after the ER trip.

A week later she spiked a fever again and her doctor said it was just a virus, control the fever with Tylenol and motrin. A week later, randomly, she spiked another fever. Every week it's been the same thing.

This morning she woke up yet again with a fever. Has anyone else dealt with a child who has constant fevers? Did you ever find out the cause? Is there something more I can ask of the doctor to find out why this is happening to her?

I am just so sad for her. When she has a fever she is miserable. I alternate the Tylenol and Motrin like clock work. I actually have alarms set, but why do I need to do this so often? :( My poor baby, she hates feeling like poop, and so does mommy.

Anyone been through this with their little one?

  • Hello all :) My eye isn't red or pink, it does hurt occasionally and there is thick yellowish-greenish...?

... goop being discharged every hour or so. Sorry if it is TMI, but the goop is thick and yellow, sometimes more green, and the consistency of my baby girl's snot when she is sick. Nasty I know! I just wonder what could be causing this. I'm assuming pink eye would be accompanied by a pink or red eye, which I do not have. My eye is it's normal color, I just have this discharge that gets stuck along my eye. Perhaps some sort of infection? Strange because I don't touch my eyes, I don't wear contacts, I have glasses.

    Any ideas?

Thanks in advance :) I hope you all are enjoying this holiday season!

  • Quick question about taxes/fees associated with owning a home?

Other than property taxes (which are generally included in the mortgage payment) are there any other annual taxes or fees that a homeowner would have to pay to the city or state?

  • Question regarding a certificate of deposit for 18 months with an APY of 1.50%?

I have gotten different answers from everyone that I ask so I figured someone here has to have a definite answer :)

I understand that the APY only applies if the fund accrue over the entire 12 months, which is happening in this case since the funds are not being touched for the entire 18 months. However for the 6 months that follow that initial 12 months will the customer be earning the APY of 1.50 or the rate of 1.49% (since it will only be in for 6 months)

My customer believes that she will only be earning 1.49% for the final 6 months of the CD, however when I use my systems interest calculator the amount I get is consistent with the amount of all 18 months at 1.50%

Thanks in advance for you help :)

  • In-text parenthetical citations in APA format. I would greatly appreciate your help here.?

My homework today calls for in-text (parenthetical) citations in APA format. I have googled APA format and read several sites that explain it and to be honest it is just one of those things that I do not get.

Can someone simply explain to me how to do in-text (parenthetical) citations in APA format? I would greatly appreciate it.

I am also asked to write a list of references in APA format.

Thanks in advance for your patience, I have researched APA but I just can't get it.

  • Today was my baby girl's first day in daycare. Mommas, how did you deal?

I dropped her off this morning and she went straight for the toys. She was "talking" to her new little friends and smiling. She is 13 months old now so she was running all around. I didn't want to put her in daycare so soon, but my mom moved out of state so I had no choice.

I guess I should feel good knowing that she loves the place so much (she didn't even cry when I left)but deep down I still want to cry. I called them twice, I wanted to make sure she ate her breakfast and lunch. They said she is doing great. She ate all her food, she took a little nap, she only cried a little bit when she woke up but once she saw the other kids she was okay.

How long will this feeling of guilt last? I thought that hearing about how great she is doing would make it so much easier for me. I love that she is dealing with it okay, I just wish I could deal with it the same.

Any advice or words of encouragement from my fellow mommies?

  • I'm used to my jaw popping, and at times locking, but THIS has never happened. Thoughts?

Hello, I have a question about my jaw.

For years, and years now, my jaw (on the right side) pops as I bite and chew food. This has been the norm for me, it pops especially loud when I take bites, and then it pops a bit as a chew. About once every two weeks or so, I will have a moment where my jaw will lock. Typically this happens while I am brushing my teeth or eating my morning cereal. My jaw will lock and I can open my mouth and not even be able to fit the toothbrush in there. It only lasts a few minutes. I still haven't figured out a technique to get it unlocked, I just move my mouth around (it's a tad uncomfortable) and eventually it lets up

Here is my issue. This morning I was eating a sandwich in french bread and as I took a bite my jaw (on the right side) popped louder than it has ever popped before and this time it HURT. I'm talking it was painful. I took my bite and as I tried to chew the food that was in my mouth my jaw was very tense and then it locked up and I was unable to continue chewing because my jaw would not open enough for me to chew adequately. It was so painful, I have never felt this kind of pain in my jaw before.

Now here I am an hour later and I still can't open my mouth to eat my sandwich. It has never lasted this long before.

Any idea what this is? First off, an idea why my jaw has been popping for years? Is this a medical condition that I can bring up to a doctor (when I find a doctor) and also does anyone know of a technique I can do to get my mouth to open. I would really like to finish my sandwich.

Has this happened to you before? Thanks so much in advance for any advice.

  • Painting a wood dresser.. Do I need to do something before hand?

My husband has been out of town and I've been slowly decorating our rather bland apartment. Lots of new decor and paint! My son has a large wood dresser and I would like to paint it a nice blue (think Toy Story.) His dresser is pretty dark, perhaps walnut color. I've never painted anything in my life, and I know I may mess up but it is worth a shot. (I only paid $20 at a thrift shop, it was a steal!)

Do I just get the paint and get to it, or am I supposed to paint it white first? Should I do 2 coats of paint? If so do I let it completely dry before applying a second coat? The dresser isn't shiny at all if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any advice! (I'm actually planning on painting our walls also, this is going to be interesting lol)

    Thanks again :)

  • Restoring my computer to it's original state? My computer is completely screwed..?

My laptop crashes now on a daily basis. There is so much crap on here and half of it I never use. I made the mistake of allowing everyone in the house to use it.

I would like to do a complete restore and take it back to when I first bought it, is this even possible?

If it is I have another question. Will it delete everything on my computer? Will I lose all of my photos, documents, and sounds?

I don't know what to do. I try to do my homework and my computer crashes, there is a blue screen with a bunch of jumbled words and numbers. I have to turn it off and restart it. This happens every 30-45 minutes.

Oh another issue is that my school allowed me to download Microsoft Office 2007 for free this summer, I also downloaded MyScribe which holds all of my class text books. Would a restore remove these programs? I am only allowed to download it once, so if I lose it I'm going to have to purchase it.

Please give me some advice, I don't know what to do.

Thanks so much. Sorry if I rambled on, I'm trying to get this all out before it crashes again!
