  • Tending bar in a restaurant with older clientele, need help with drinks they may order?

I have been tending bar in a night club and recently got a job in a restaurant& lounge. My patrons are frequently 60+, although I do have a mix of regulars who are 40+. I need help with things the older crowd might order. Rusty nail, old fashioned, amaretto sours are some drinks I have made but I'd like to memorize other possibly helpful drinks. While we're at it, any tips on how to accomplish a good frozen drink with a mediocre blender?

  • What drinks should a new bartender learn first?

I'm starting a job as a bartender in training. It's a reasonably hopping place, 18 and up, saturdays 21 and up. It's also a predominantly lesbian club, frequented by gay men, and I would guess some swingers, hedro not uncommon but not the norm. They also do fun things with the local roller derby like mud/oil wrestling. What drinks do you think should be learned first? And do you have any suggestions for resources a new bartender should have?

  • Roller derby wheels, need opinions?

I'm new to roller derby, can skate okay and am not a little gal, although I might be considered little compared to some blockers. So, I need okay wheels for my crappy skates, until I figure out if this is something I want to invest (more) time and money into.

I was looking at Hyper Witch Doctors because the price is right. However I can get a pair of re-grooved Cannibals for almost the same price as new WDs.

What would you do or what would you suggest?

  • What happens in a c-section postpartum visit?

I'm 7 weeks p.p. and don't really want to go back to the doc who did my c-sec. I've stopped bleeding and don't have any pain/issues I want to have checked out. Do you think it's okay to skip?

  • To wake or not to wake...?

I have a 10 day old breast fed kiddo and I'm doubting myself. 'Everyone' says to wake baby and feed every 3-4 hours and go no longer than 4 hours at a stretch. Last night I actually got 4-5 hours uninterrupted sleep! He's sleeping good and so am I, should I wake him to nurse or let him wake up himself and continue feeding on demand? He nurses well and plenty when he's awake.

  • How do I get rid of red ants?

These little buggers are driving me CRAZY! What can I do, short of calling an exterminator, to bait and rid my home of them? They are mainly in my kitchen (yes my counters are clean) where this time they found a strawberry filled candy bar my husband put in the cabinet. They appear to be coming out of the outlets and I have also found them in a basket of clean clothes that had set at the top of the stairs for a day. I'm going crazy! I would like to use the most 'family friendly' DIY approach. THANKS!

  • Hospital vs. Home; Epidural vs. No

I'm pregnant with my 3rd, 1st hospital w/ a single dose of Stadol, 2nd at birthing center with midwife, my issue is there is nothing left to my imagination, I know labor/birth hurts. Should I stick with my midwife (new one) whom I'm not super crazy about and do the all natural thing again or do you think it's okay to go ahead and go to the hospital, get the epidural and have a few days down time before going back home and getting to work?

I don't really have a big support network, my mom and husband work in our family business and won't be able to take much time, if any off, so I'll be by myself with 3 kiddos (4,18 m & nb) as soon as I'm home, which is 2-8 hours with midwife or 2-3 days with a doctor.

  • My 15 month old bites, any suggestions?

My 15 month old has recently started biting. Most of the time there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason behind it, she just leans over and bites. It's just me, not her daddy or brother. I tell her no bite when she does it and I even tried biting her back (I felt awful and incrediblly embarressed). Any suggestions?

  • Birth... natural or other?

I'd like to know how many women are choosing which and what is your reasoning behind your choice? Any home births planned? Water births? First time moms planning natural? Epidurals? Pain management on demand? Thanks!

    The Identity of Evolution

    Posted: 14 Feb 2008 06:43 PM CST

It’s hard to believe that all this incredible creation came about through evolution, but many do, and if they are right in their beliefs, then evolution is the Creator. Evolution is therefore God. Darwinian believers wouldn’t put it in those words, but that’s the truth. Whoever or whatever created all things is the Creator (God).

Idolatry (making up your own god) is nothing new for human beings. We gravitate to it. The nations that surrounded Israel continually made up their own gods, and that’s why God said in the First of the Ten Commandments, “I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.”

The reason the evolutionist makes up his own god is that his own God-given reason tells him that creation had a Creator. And evolution fits the bill for him. He loves evolution with all of his heart, mind, soul and strength because it gave him life itself, and all of life’s pleasures. But he loves it for one more reason. His idol has no moral dictates. It satisfies his intellectual need for a Creator, but it doesn’t tell him how to live his life. Evolution is the modern day golden calf. It’s a dumb idol. All the believer need do is bow down in faith, say, “I believe in evolution,” and that deals with his problem of sin, of guilt and consequently of any thought of Judgment Day. It’s the ultimate delusion.
