We are a busy public office that is open until 9PM four days a week. If by some chance one of my coworkers is sick or has an emergency, and the other coworker cannot work until 9PM that would only leave me. However, I have two evening classes in beginning in August which I do not want to skip unless it is necessary because I am ill or have an emergency. Does my employer have any legal ground to force me to skip my classes in order to work until our office closes? Please provide legal code if you can. Much appreciated!

We open at 8:30 and I get in at 8, That day I called and said I would be late and got in at 8;35. Well, to make a long story short--another coworkers birthday is this Friday and she's taking the day off. I've been in a lawsuit for the past year for a fender bender I had 2 years ago. I just found out this afternoon that I have to give my deposition on Friday morning. We have a small office with only 4 full time people including my boss. With myself and the other girl off on Friday that would leave one coworker by herself on a very busy day. My boss may not be available to help cover the front desk area with this other coworker. I'm afraid my boss is going to give me grief tomorrow about the deposition, but she's know about this coming since before Thanksgiving. My attorney told me the deposition would probably be around the 20th of december. I'm also planning to take the day off so I don't feel rushed through deposition. I told the coworker that will be here Friday that I was planning that and she could hardly look at me. And then just keep giving me these little straight lipped smiles saying okay, uh huh. I can't stand this. I feel like everyone is going to be upset.

Through all of these changes my job has stayed the same, but all of these external things are making my anxiety worse. I don't want to come to work and when I'm here I don't want to be here. I like what I do don't get me wrong about that, but I don't know how to handle all of the anxiety. I cry just about every morning and I don't want to leave home. I'm absolutely miserable. Any suggestions?? Anyone been through this? What do you do when your coworkers drive you nuts?

The clincher is one of my coworkers that I'm not particularly fond of may be applying for my boss's position. I am up in arms about this. I don't know what to do. I also don't know if I should switch majors in college as I'm transferring this fall. I'm currently set for English which would help in my current job, but I'm interested in psychology and education. I can't apply for my boss's job because I don't have a four year degree. So it wouldn't do me any good to waste time with an English degree because it's going to take me awhile to get it and by then someone will have filled my boss's position. Help!!!!
