I also have an Apple iBook G3 with airport card. I want to use a wireless router so I can use my laptop anywhere in the house. Is there anyway to keep my PC set up as it is, but with a wireless router next to it? Can I take the DSL cable from my PC and plug it into the router? Won't this mean that I have to switch the cable back and forth from the router to the PC when I want to use internet on my PC? My PC is not wireless enabled and will have to stay connected to the internet via a cable. Or, can I just plug a third cable into the DSL modem and run that to the router, leaving my PC directly connected?

One day I was embarrassed, and said that it was odd we kept seeing each other. He asked why that had to be a bad thing. I told him I didn't want him to think I was stalking him, and he said,"Oh, don't disappoint me!" When he found out I have a horse, he asked me about him and said he used to ride. He wanted to know if there was anywhere he could go riding because he missed it. A couple times he gave me stuff for free even though I didn't ask for it. The other day he said he was leaving his route in 2 weeks because he can't make it home in time to be there for his little boy. Then he showed me a picture. I had no idea he had a son. I said it was too bad he had to change his route, and he said, almost apologetically, "But it's not for two weeks!" He told someone else his wife is 4yrs older than him-it was news to me that he has a wife. Now I'm really confused!

  • Non-smoker is frustrated with insurance company. What can I do?

I've just become eligible for insurance where I work. Today I found out that I will have to take a nicotine swab test and if it comes back positive my rates will be higher. I DO NOT use tobacco. However, I live in a household in which someone smokes pretty heavily. I've been told that I will probably not pass the nicotine test because of this. I understand that second hand smoke is unhealthy for me, so I don't need a lecture. I'm very anti-smoking, but unfortunately, I'm stuck in my situation for now. I think it's absolutely horrible that an insurance company can penalize me for a behavior practiced by someone else. Is there anything I can do about this?

  • What does my new Circle Y saddle's serial number mean?

I bought a Circle Y Topeka Flex2 Trail saddle a couple months ago. The company website says that if the saddle's serial number ends in 04 it's a regular tree, and if it ends in 05 it's a wide tree. Mine ends in 06, but I can't find any information on that. It fits my horse like a regular tree though. My full serial number is... show more

  • Are escape doors on a horse trailer dangerous?

I've always wondered why some people use the escape doors on straight load horse trailers when loading their horses. They lead the horse in the trailer and then step out the escape door. Isn't this an accident waiting to happen if the horse isn't tied in time and decides to try to get out that small door? Has anyone witnessed an... show more

Three weeks ago he developed a cough and white nasal discharge. He rarely coughs at rest. He coughs mostly when he eats and especially when he exercises. It's the worst at the trot, but almost non-existent at the walk and canter. The other day he was trotting on the longe line and white discharge was came out of his nose and mouth after he coughed. The vet (just out of school I think) was out today and said she thinks it's COPD, or "heaves". From what I know about this condition, it doesn't seem to fit. My horse is kept on a large pasture 24/7 although he has access to shelter. He has not had hay since June. He is with four other horses (none of them are sick), and there are no other horses coming or going. He is eating and drinking well and has no temperature. The past few weeks' weather has been hot, cold, rainy and in between. Any thoughts?

I have a 2 yr. old Friesian/Paint cross. Both years he was late in shedding. He still had his winter coat weeks after the other horses were done shedding. This spring I had to shave his belly hair as that was the last to shed and it was a haven for ticks. Although his coat is sleek and beautiful this summer, I still have to shave his cheek/jowl areas because that hair is always longer. He's on pasture all of the time and gets grain regularly. For the past year he's been on a multi-vitamin and skin/coat supplement. He's wormed regularly and seems to be healthy and in great condition. Could his Friesian blood be the reason for his really thick winter coat and late shedding? Cushings usually occurs in older horses, and he has no symptoms of hypothyroidism. However, one of his full brothers was born with contracted tendons and also has the shaggy coat problem, and another of his full brothers (a three day old foal) was born with hypothyroidism and is going to be put down. Thanks.

I'm considering Circle Y partly because a few people have recommended them to me, and partly because they have good resale value (my horse is young and it may not fit him in a few years). Do you have an opinion on the flex tree versus the solid tree? What do you think of a traditional padded seat versus a hard seat? If you don't like Circle Y, what saddle do you recommend? Feel free to be detailed in your answer. I'll be doing mostly trail riding, but will also possibly be doing speed events and some light work (i.e. pulling a light log here and there, ponying another horse, etc...). Thanks!

  • What is an "honest" horse?

I guess it just strikes me as a thing horse people say because they think it sounds good. It's kind of like how people are now always describing everything as "surreal" but most probably don't have a clue what it means. I've been around horses most of my life, and the "honesty" label just doesn't ring true. I'm trying to keep an open mind, so please enlighten me!

  • What kind of Friesian Sport Horse do you have, and what do you like about it?

I have a Friesian Sport Horse. He's half-Friesian, half-Paint. Besides his looks, he also has such an affectionate, gentle, and willing personality. I'm interested in hearing from other Friesian Sport Horse owners :)
