I have three things that I want to get fixed someday, but I want to save money as well.
A: Compaq desktop computer with Windows XP Media Center Edition on it.
Long after getting a new motherboard due to booting issues, my sister and I agreed to do a system recovery on it. However, because of the new motherboard and the tattooing issue, we have CODE PURPLE on it, so we cannot use it anymore.
Another thing I consider doing to it, if it comes to installing a new operating system on it, is to upgrade it to Windows 7, if it ends up being possible (Windows 8, as far as I know, is too slow).
B: HP G71 laptop with Windows 7 on it
After it was accidentally dropped out of an SUV, it received a worsening broken screen that obstructs viewing. When I asked to see how much it would cost to repair it, they told me I should buy a new laptop, which was done.
However, this particular laptop works great, and it would be even better if it had a new screen. Right now, it is connected to a monitor via VGA so it can be used. I don't want to lose this laptop just because of a broken screen. Repairing the screen would save space on my computer desk, or at least become a two-monitor set-up PC.
C: Seagate Dashboard -320 GB
It was USD $50 on Amazon.com. It would perhaps be easier to get a new one, but this one disconnects and reconnects constantly. My sister says it is broken. Should I just get a new one instead?
