• Why does European Union Regulation 1/2005 now prohibit Delta Airlines from using its Boeing 757 aircraft from transporting pets to Europe?

I m curious from a technical perspective. And I may be using their 757 to transport a pet to Africa. Should I assume there greater risk to the pet in this aircraft for some reason?

Apparently, I was to help myself to a slice of either bread, but I couldn't figure out what the hotel intended the guests to do to hold the bread with their other hand while slicing it. I used a paper napkin, but this felt improvised, since there were no napkins available near this bread area. What exactly is the etiquette and sanitary procedure here? It wasn't important enough for me to ask anyone at the time. I also wondered whether there was supposed to be some employee there to do the slicing, but no one but me was around.

  • What are the customs rules for a US citizen traveling from Europe to USA with an overnight stay in Canada?

I arrive in Toronto at night and leave the next morning after a night in a hotel. When I declare the clothing and souvenirs I plan to buy in Europe to the Canada customs officer, could my purchases abroad be seized, or would I be subject to a duty? Is alcohol or tobacco even possible to bring into Canada for a non-Canadian citizen?

  • How long would a fully charged cell phone battery stay charged if stored out of the phone at room temperature?

In an emergency, I have a phone I would like to put the battery back inside, boot up, and use for a little bit if my primary phone was unavailable. How often should I expect to have to recharge the unused battery? It would be a rough estimate, I understand. Thanks.

  • What tires are best for my pickup truck when I move it from wintry states to the West Texas desert?

I have the factory-installed General Ameri-GS60 all-season tires on there now, but is there a better tire for handling the extreme heat and long stretches of dirt and gravel roads in rural West Texas? I won't have any freezing temperatures to deal with either, and there is only 18 inches of rainfall per year.

  • What are the square plastic ports on the back of my Chevy Colorado's cab in the gap between the cab and bed?

I can barely get a finger into the gap and curled into the plastic portal-looking thing before I feel a spongy material that could be the interior upholstery or some kind of insulation material. I'm interested in passing coax cable for a CB antenna into the cab without making any new holes, and I think this could be my way in.

While approaching the driver's window, I observe a passenger in the back seat quickly push an container (e.g. a backpack, brown paper bag, ball of foil) under his seat. Drawing on my knowledge and experience, I believe whatever is in the container being concealed is likely contraband. Do I have probable cause to search the item that was concealed in a suspicious manner? If not, do I need more elements like suspicious odors, behavior, answers to simple questions? (Where are you coming from? Where do you live? Do you know this neighborhood really well? etc.) Does any of this change if it does not involve a vehicle but instead a person on the street who, for example, shoves something quickly into his pants or his jacket when I contact him? I would appreciate input from people who have built cases under similar circumstances.

  • To drive west to Yellowstone, should I take I-80 (through South Dakota) or I-94 (through North Dakota)?

I'm actually starting in Metro Detroit. The mileage difference is only 30, so it seems like a wash that way. I imagine most people take I-80 so they can do the Mt. Rushmore and Badlands stops, but if I-94 has some cool stops, I would do that instead.
