  • Does the term "Arraignment" apply to CANADIAN Law?

    Offense: Assault Causing Bodily Harm

    Victim: 12 year-old male (5'1" 101Lbs.)

    Perpetrator: 18 year-old male (6'3" 220Lbs.)

Result of offense: broken nose bone (not the flippy cartilage bit at the end, his face is actually broken), nausea, vomiting, dizziness, 2 very black eyes and a fear like I've never seen before.

(Yes, he was to the Children's hospital for full exam and treatment and he's home now resting as comfortably as he can considering).

    So ...

WTF is a "Show Cause" hearing?

When they arrest the perpetrator, will there be an "arraignment" for him to enter his plea, establish legal representation, etc. ?

Can the parents/guardians of the 12YO attend?

I am the father of the victim and I want to make sure that this !@#$!@#$ gets what he deserves.

How do I ensure that I get to be present at any and all court hearings/trials/etc.?

So far, police are not committing to telling me when he gets arrested or when his hearings will be.

To all Answerers: yes, this is a heinous crime. Yes its awful ... I already know all that. I'm sick over this and I need advice on how to help my son and make sure this man gets punished to the fullest extent of the law.

    Thanks for your help\.

  • What do people think of riding their bike, cycling or biking with their dog?

I've seen ALOT of mis-information here on this topic and I'd like to set the record straight on the subject.
