I don't know what action I can take here. I lost my wallet a couple months ago, I reported it lost and handled the fraudulent use of my cards, etc right away. Shortly after this person who used my cards opened an account at a local, shady department store and and maxed out the new account. I called the store's fraud department and was assured the card was closed. A few weeks later I discovered it was not and now the account balance has increased by about $1,000 AFTER being maxed. I have called the fraud department and emailed but I am being ignored. They know that I want this account closed and choose to allow it to stay open. This is irritating and the only reason I can think of why they are choosing to do this is so they can deny my fraud claim and come after me for as much $$$ as possible. I called and filied a complaint with the FTC a couple weeks ago due to the store opening this account while I have a fraud alert attached to my credit reports. At that time I had assumed the account had been closed. What can I do? Who can I report this to?
