A few days ago I answered a question from an American who was planning a trip to Europe. I know this is a statement rather than a question, but I neglected to mention at the time, which I should have done, that there is a rail pass called Inter Rail which allows you to travel by train in 30 countries. The youth pass for 1 month costs around £400 (about $800), which sounds like a lot until you realise that if you use it regularly you are likely to clock up $800 worth of travel in less than a week, let alone a month. For those with a slimmer budget, there are cheaper passes for shorter periods and also for just one country. Friend, I hope you're reading this. Bon Voyage. http://www.interrailnet.com/interrail-gl...

The man leaves again. Half an hour later he is back again. 'I want a pass to go to the West.' 'Look,' says the officer, his temper by now beginning to get a bit frayed, 'this is the third time you've asked this in an hour, and I'm telling you for the last time, the wall has gone, you don't need a pass, just walk across.' 'I know that', replies the man. 'Then what's the problem?' 'It's just that I can't hear it often enough'.

It's against a nurse's ethic to promote causes unconnected with healing, or for personal gain. However this was a genuine attempt to promote the welfare of the patient. There was no gain for the nurse involved. What about Christian orders (like the Poor Clares and the Sisters of Mercy) who are both carers and devotees? Of course not everyone is a religious believer and if I were ill and a nurse offered to pray for me, I'd politely decline. But I wouldn't want to see the nurse disciplined just for that.
