I have been riding horses for almost 7 years and i've owned my own horse for 4 years (he's 8 years old). I love him like CRAZY and I've been working on his training in jumping and liberty. I love to answer questions about training and jumping, and I love answering questions like: "How much is this horse worth," or "Should I buy this horse." I also love questions about names; I can come up with a lot of good horse names!

  • How to teach my horse lead changes??? plz help!!?

My horse canters on his right lead really well. But he CANNOT do lead changes, even simple ones. I'll canter him on a lead, ANY lead, bring him down to a trot for about 3-5 strides, then tell him to go back to a canter on the opposite lead that he was on, and he just goes back to the same lead!! The ONLY way I've been able to get him on the correct lead is 1) starting him on the correct lead and 2) going in a tight circle when he won't change leads; it's uncomfortable so he switches to the correct lead. Can you help me know how to teach him so he'll change leads?!?!?!?! thx!

oh and if you know how to ask a horse to do a flying change that would be GREAT too!!!

  • what exercises can I use?

we're building an arena on our property. i don't know how big it is going to be, prob about normal size. By this summer it will be finished cause we put more than half the posts in last year. One of our horses is our kid's horse. His name is Cloud and he's really hard mouthed. his trot is really bumpy and his canter feels like you're in a blender. He doesn't know how to neck-rein. But he's a little doll and a great kids horse. This summer we're going to a horse camp about 4-5 hours away and our friend who's a beginning rider is going to ride Cloud. She's our friend's grandma's foster kid and she's lots of fun, doesn't know much about riding, but is getting better. She can't use our friends' pony cause he's HORRIBLE at trails, he gallops up hills no matter how hard you pull back and almost canters down the hills. So she's gonna use Cloud.

I will be able to ride Cloud at least every other day, he lives on our property with our other horses. What exercises can I use with cloud to make it so he's not such a bumpy rough ride and so that she'll have fun on him????

Please answer and thx so much!!!!!!!

  • how can i get my horse to sustain his fox-trot?

my horse is a Bashkir curly and some curlies can have a fox-trot. In his line, most of the males have fox-trot, are homozygous (keep the curly gene no matter what they're bred to) and hypo-allergenic. Prince is all of those. The only prob is that he can't sustain his fox-trot. He'll hold the fox-trot for about 2 - 3 seconds, then break into a trot, or back to a walk. How can i get him to sustain it???? thx!!!

  • Horse to train (didn't get very good response, repost)?

So if you didn't see my last post, here it is:

~So i've been riding for a long time. We have 3 horses and I've helped train my horse since he was four. (oh and he turns 8 tomorrow happy birthday Prince!!!) lol anyways... a trainer started training Prince when he was almost 5 for western and stuff when i lived down in Washington. We moved back up to our home in Alaska and me and my instructor trained prince in jumping and English. Now he absolutely loves it and i think prob. better than western. :D lol.

Anyways, when i was training prince i absoluetely LOVED it, because i had this feeling of.... experience and me and my horse bonded SO much more. Now he follows me around on his own cause he just ADORES me and i think its the cutest thing.

So now i have a trained horse that does basically everything: hunter jumping, he's GREAT at dressage, does western pleasure, equitation, a little reining, likes cows, english on flat, LOVES trail riding.... etc etc. lol. but i want to train another horse. Especially maybe a smaller horse like a POA or Arab or Welsh, because i have a little 7 year old sister who is a great rider (better than I was at her age, but i'm not concerned with that lol). She said that she wants to help me train a pony and what i'd do is train the pony then as I'm training it to ride (since it would be small and I'm 5'4 and 108 lbs) I'd start him off then do lessons with my little sis and teach them both at the same time. lol hope u get the idea.

anyways what do u think??? if u have any ads for un-trained ponies or small horses 4 sale in Alaska or Washington that would be AWESOME too.

    THANKS!!!! x

    sooo... wat do u think??

4-sale ads w/ horses less than $1000 plz!! thanks so much!!! plz answer

oh and what do u think of these horses?? thx!

  • How do i find my old horse? PLZ answer!?

I live in Alaska close to Anchorage. I'm looking for my old horse that we sold about 5-6 years ago. he was a big palomino maybe QH named Dutch. I think back then he was abou 12-14 y/o. Anyways, i think about him a lot, and I always wonder what happened to him. We sold him to this guy who i think lives in fairbanks. He was a really cool horse and soooo sweet.

Anyways, i'm trying to find out what happened to him, and i can't find him anywhere. He wasn't registered; we bought him and 2 other horses from a horse pack ranch near Mt. McKinley. Is there a website or something that i could find him on? I've been looking and looking. Plz help me and answer!!!!!!!!!
