I had a fun chat last night with a nice gal and I'd like to say "thanks" without sounding like a complete dork ... or scary, or needy or like a total wimp.
Thank you in advance!2 AnswersEtiquette1 decade ago

I remember my teacher telling the story of a play on Broadway (probably in the 50's) that the critics panned, yet a newspaper strike kept the news from being delivered. The play opened and word of mouth made it a success! Finally the newspapers came out, but it was too late to impact the play ~ which as I recall was one we all know now.

I see at the bottom of my friends 360 blog the link for an RSS feed. I copied location and pasted in the "edit feeds" page just like I did for the BBC news and NPR feeds. Yet, my friends' blog does not show up as one of my feeds.

Personally, I'm afraid of this isolated country. I've little doubt the media is skewing some of the information.

I know they were first graphic novels -- so creative and refreshing, much like (or me) Payback and Kill Bill. These have made me excited about movies again, not since American Beauty have a seen anything as original.
Any recommendations for movies along this ilk?2 AnswersMovies1 decade ago
I became a Christian in my late teens about 35 years ago. My early years were steeped in Bible study and I got, what I think, is a very good foundation. Being promised in John 10:10 a more than abundant life, I believed that and just let God hold the reins.
Since then, I've never had to apply for a job, they've been offered to me. When I went to get my master's degree - I got a full scholarship. With little or no ambition per se, nor an interest in job politics I've always been promoted and my job has taken me to interesting places like Hong Kong, NYC, Boston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I've submitted three articles to magazines and all three have been published.
Even the most cynical atheist would have to agree that my life has been blessed or I am just insanely lucky.
I just got a new boss. Not knowing if we'll get along, I just asked God to take care of me. Either by giving me a good boss or winning the lottery, lol.
It struck me as an incredibly passive act

Is it naive of me to think of wanting a "spiritual quest?" Some say life is a journey -- how about a quest?
Not Don Quixote tilting at windmills or asking, "God, please teach me patience."
But some kind of goal. Obviously I can't go running about the country finding glory. But, a task ... a goal... something that I could achieve but means risk and fulfillment.
I'd like to try Something that will help me find satisfaction in my life, be it religious or a personal betterment or even an artistic break-through.
Any ideas from this generous group would be more than welcome.
And, I thank you in advance.9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade ago
Words of wisdom, please, on the next phase of my life. Hopefully it's not too indulgent of me to ask?
I'll be turning 50 next month! Time to review my life's choices, I think.
I have a fantastic job, I am a teacher in an art college and a working artist. I make enough to get by comfortably but I'm not rich, nor has that ever been my intent.
Typically people facing the <quote>mid-life crisis</quote> are encouraged to ...duh .. take art classes and explore themselves on a personal level. Egads, I've done that for the past 35 years!
Yet, I feel restless.
What is there to do?
