  • Help Needed with Marketing/Selling My Book of Self-Published Short Stories?

I have written a book of short stories which I am self-publishing through a very professional pulishing company. In fact the assistance I have received at various stages in the process has been seond-to-none. The book focuses on peoples desires, greed, hatred, sexual hang-ups, one quasi-ghost story, and all have a twist in the tail.

It is being publsihed next month. I could seek independent advice on marketing but I thought I would present it here on Yahoo Answers. Just looking for basic strategies on selling the book, how and where, and any costs?

    Thanking you in advance.

  • LIDL Receiving Deliveries at 01:20am and Accompanying Noise?

I live next door to a LIDL supermarket in a small town in Surrey. My lounge overlooks its warehouse. And I have a complaint to make and need response.

It's the noise. There is a ramp from which the delivery lorry reverses up to and onto which the warehouse staff with metal trolleys transfer the goods from the lorry into the warehouse. The noise is deafening at the best of times - night time deliveries are usually between 8:00 - 9:00pm. The noise is made from the wheels crashing on to the ramp - it really is deafening.

Firstly, I would argue that the noise breaches HSE regulations but delivering goods and making an unacceptable racket at 01:20 in the morning is wrong. Thoughts please.

  • Starting a Used Car Dealership in UK?

It's something I have been toying with for some time. I have plenty of money to invest - no problem there. Now, from what I gather, one will need a 'business' premises from which to trade (Scottish law) and of course car dealer insurance. Do I need permission from my local council, for instance? Apart from these points what else do I require legally to start this business. I would want to specialise in performance cars.

  • The Use of Arabic Numerals?

This question is to do with numbers but specifically when to use Arabic numerals as opposed to written numbers. For instance we can say, 'she is eighteen years old.' Or we can say, 'she is 18 years old.' We can say there were twenty-six members of parliament or we can say we have 26 members of parliament. Are there any hard and fast rules on the use of numbers as illustrated here?

  • The Death of the Japanese Buddhist D.T. Suzuki?

I am doing research on this great Japanese Buddhist scholar who did much to promote Zen in the West. However, I have read that he died in Tokyo in 1966 and another article tells me it was Manhattan, New York, of the same year. Any ideas? A date for his death would also be welcomed.

  • Use of Wikipedia Text in My Book?

I am writing a non-fiction book that is like an information-type work where there will be lots of facts and stuff like that. Much of the text for this book has come from Wikipedia. If I make references to this fact upfront before the Preface, would this be okay? I mean some of the websites I have checked for source material are using Wikipedia text word-for-word.

  • Ebay From Outright Sale to Auction?

I have something on eBay for sale currently listed as an outright sale. However, I think I could stimulate more interest by now listing it as an auction. But when I tried to do this yesterday, I got a message saying that I would have to pay more money for this option. Or did I misread the message? Any advice would be welcome.
