Some good music to play while watching the fireworks display this week. Yeah, yeah. I know there's plenty of country music out there and I dig it. But this time, I want some good rock & roll. Any suggestions?7 AnswersIndependence Day1 decade ago
I'm starting to think that if people had to pay a fee to ask/answer anything on YA, perhaps we wouldn't have to deal with asinine people. Is it me, or are there just way too many ridiculous contributions here? Bad grammar, bad spelling, spiteful criticism... I'm guessing it would be too difficult to ban people from YA on the basis of being too childish. Would having to pay to do this be an alternative?5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade ago
A close friend of mine sums it up by asking "Why is it so hot and what am I doing in this hand-basket?" That might not be too far off from the mark after having read about some peculiar happenings around the world; "Torrential rains in Mozambique cause havoc", "Ski resorts depressed by snowfall", "Dozens Of Dead Birds Cause Shut Down Of [...] Downtown Austin" and "Hurricane force winds hit Europe".

I am considering taking a job with a contractor that will pay well. The two dozen people that I spoke to (some of whom I know) who have worked this job have worked in Kuwait. In regard to the geographical area, Kuwait seems to be proportionately less prone to witnessing acts of terror/violence. (As opposed to OTHER areas in the region.) Thus, would taking this job be a relatively safe move? In one year, it pays close to the equivalent of three years of my current salary in the U.S.8 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade ago
I mean really, why would anyone care what Angelina Whatshername does in her spare time? I wouldn't give a (fill in the blank) if Oproh has some other idiot doing jumping-jacks on her studio couch. When you think about it, these people are simply meant to entertain us. And if that is the case, (at least in my point of view) that would mean that they should be working for us. Basketball players getting paid millions and then fighting on live television, dorky kids coming out of nowhere to become an "American Idol", and singers with only one name telling us how we should "save" the world. Please. Give me a break. Can we please stop putting these people on high pedastals? Let's not be a sycophantic society. Because its one thing to admire someone's talent. It becomes something else when the media shoves them down our throats because the public perpetuates faux-talent.1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
From what I remember, these are prehistoric and somewhere on some mountain range or on some flatlands in South America where if you were looking from ground level, it would look like an unremarkable mound. But when viewed from ten miles above ground, the line on the ground forms the rudimentary shape of a man or a spider or a hummingbird. They are also found in some parts of Europe as well.5 AnswersGeography1 decade ago

"May the roof above never fall in, nor the friends below ever fall out." Who can top that toast to friends?
Getting together once in a long while with a group of good friends for a drink or two? How about this toast to make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy? (Not that the sloe gin fizz didn't take care of it in the first place..) But I think that's a real good one for your closest comrades. Think you can top it? If so, I'll have a new one.3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
Not looking for any conspiracy theories, but does anyone REALLY know what drives the price of gas up or down?
Please, no government bashing here. That's a totally different forum. I just want to know on a grand scale what exactly drives the price of a gallon of gas. Ultimately, who is behind it and who benefits?7 AnswersCorporations1 decade ago
