  • IRS website lists several "free" tax return sites to go where one can do their taxes. Are there any you used?

Or recommend? I'd like to do one that isn't charging an arm and a leg like Turbo Tax does.

  • Windows won't start- message prompt doesn't help me. Thoughts?

I have a 2002 Dell Computer. It has Windows XP on it, which was installent about a year ago. Recently a prompt comes up as I turn the computer on that says "We apologize for the inconvience, windows did not start succesfully." Then it gives me several prompts to choose, including "Use last known good configuation" and "Start windows normally" and "Safe mode."

When I choose any of the options, it cycles through for a bit and then comes right back to the same prompt. It's an endless loop.

Any thoughts on what to do? Is it repairable/fixable? Can I do it without erasing everything on my computer, such as my saved writing documents and music? Or should I get a gun and put my computer out of its misery? I'm not a computer wizard by any means. Thanks for any help.

  • Good things to help with quitting drinking?

My wife is going to quit drinking, she has been a borderline alcoholic for a few years. Aside from going to some support and AA meetings, we are trying to figure out what would help her best cope with cutting out drinking. She has tried and has cravings. Are there any former drinkers etc. who have found ways to cope, aside from AA meetings? I'm talking about good foods/drinks to help smooth the transition and calm the cravings, are there any? She was thinking a lot of Gatorade. She's trying to take up new hobbies and exercise. She does not want to go a medical route and take medicines from a doctor. Any help or thoughts you have, serious ones please, she and I will read your replies.

How long does one wait on Ebay before filing an official complaint?

  • I use Verizon and need a replacement phone- will any phone work?

I have used a Verizon plan for a year now and had a phone bought from them, one of those Razor thingies. Recently it was destroyed. I have a couple of motorola phones laying around from when I used to use T-Mobile and another plan- will those phones work to activate with my Verizon plan?

I know I can call Verizon and have them connect a phone to my plan. But I am unfamiliar with what phones will work with a certain plan. Anyone who has an idea would be of great help!

  • What is this movie from the 80s??

    What film from the 1980's...thinking aprrox.1986-1989 ish...has:

A Theatrical Stage, and takes place a large majority of the film at this theater...

    "Save the Theater..." ???

The theater owner rides into a Lit up sign on the stroke of mid-night for the New Years Celebration...

We think that " Art Carney" may be in this film...NOT SURE...

Drug use happens by the Dude in the Silver Jumpsuit with the briefcase of drugs, and a Rock concert is put on by owner and crew guy to raise money to keep the theater open, two guys in White suits are tryin' to buy the place or destroy it.

There's a fire marshall and a scene with possibly "Sting or Billy Idol" in a closet with like six girlsall over him, they are all on massive drugs..and this person also has a scene where he's sittin' on the toilet talkin to his pee-pee.

  • My flash stick/jump drive worked once- now I can't access it. Help?

I bought a 512 MB jump drive stick and used it once on the computer- I downloaded files to it and ejected it out of the computer. Now I insert it into the computer, as well as a computer at work, I get nothing. No drive, no pop up or icon in the corner announcing that it has been loaded. I can't get in! I did get one error message once saying it didn't recognize the flash stick.

    Ideas?

  • Can you convert a landline phone number into a prepaid cell phone?

Here's the deal. I want to take my home landline phone number, and get a prepaid cell phone from somewhere like Circle K. Can I have my landline phone number switched (disconnected) and become that phone? I know it works for cell phones, but not sure how it works for a prepaid. Do they come with a number already attached? Thanks. Serious replies only!
