  • Amniotic fluid?

I'm currently 33wks+ pregnant with my second child and this is VERY different from my first. I was diagnosed with GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus) at 29wks with this pregnancy and have been trying my hardest to keep my sugar levels under control. I just started insulin 4 days ago because I'm having so many problems.

Anywho, my Specialist told me that I have an increased risk of excess fluid or hydramnios and that I should keep an eye out for any symptoms seeing my sugars are erratic.

Since early this morning I have been "leaking" down there and have been a little worried. There has been some discharge (sorry TMI), but there has generally been too much of it to just be cervical mucus. And what is worse I can't get through to the hospital to ask for help!

How can you tell the difference between leaking of discharge and waters? I have been collecting fluid in pads. There hasn't been a hell of a lot. But it still isn't subsiding. Any advice?

  • Utensils and self feeding?

My son just turned 1 on Jan 3. I'm just curious as to when he might become interested in learning his utensils? I realise that all babies are different and he plays with his spoon while I feed him.

What were the best methods and types of food you used to help them learn? Oh and what age were your kids when they were feeding themselves?

  • Is it just me?

I've been trying to gain access to the Cafemom website and it just shows up with a "IE cannot show display page". I was in the site and it just cut out. Could they be doing site maintenance - and if you could check to see if the link is working for me:

    Thanks!

  • Belly Talk :P?

I had my first child on Jan 3 this year and have tried various forms of exercise to get rid of my pregnancy tummy. My pouch has disappeared but i still have a little bit of a belly that sticks out. Anywho cutting a long story short my Uncle saw me for the first time since the pregnancy and made stupid comments saying that i looked as if i was pregnant again. I wasnt necessarily offended, but i thought the remarks were uncalled for. What do you think of this situation?

  • Can my baby really hear?

Well im going to try to cut this from a long story to a short one. But as the question refers, im a little anxious as to whether or not he actually might have some hearing loss. My son is 7wks old and ive been told by family that he should be turning towards my voice from roughly about this age. He doesnt respond to a lot of loud noise but i have seem him blink a few times when i clap for him. He is extremely energetic so i bought a rocker with a rattle and mobile attached and even tried getting his attention with the rattle. He doesnt turn towards it, nor does he react. He has had a newborn hearing test which is known as SWISH here in Australia and he did pass it with flying colours. But im just a little anxious as to whether i should take him for another hearing checkup.

I would really like to ask mothers and fathers out there with little kids. What age did your baby turn towards sounds and start cooing. And if any parents have kids with hearing loss, what were the signs?

  • Women who have had Preeclampsia?

Yesterday I went for my antenatal checkup and found that my bloodpressure was 143 over 90. My midwife showed some concern as ive always remained at least just under 80. I had a second reading done to make sure it was correct before being they put me on a FMC (fetal movement calculator) to check bub's heartbeat and kick pattern. Everything was ok with my baby as well as my uterus.

Ive had no symptoms of high blood pressure or preeclampsia. And they did do a urine sample to check for protein. It all came back clear but i now have to go for a 4 hour blood pressure assesment next Monday to check for problems with blood pressure and another check up on baby.

Have any mothers out there or pregnant women gone through the same thing without their blood pressure increasing again after the first test?

  • Did anyone (aussie) know anything about Belinda Emmett's death this morning?

I just found out this afternoon about Belinda Emmett's death this afternoon and was in absolute tears when i found out. She was such a beautiful young woman I feel so sorry for Rove at the moment. He is such a terrific guy and i wish his family all my condolensces.

Had it been on the news this morning at all about her death? Or was it only just released?

  • Women and bum cleavage. For or against it?

Do you find women bending over and showing a bit of plumbers crack offensive? I personally find it extremely skanky...Especially if the chick has a muffin butt (too tight jeans, butt bulging over the top).

    What about you?

And do guys and girls see this differently at all? Do men find it sexy or no?
