  • How do I clean mold on my cinder block basement wall?

I think the wall is leaking water through cracks and now I see mold growing. Can I clean it up with bleach & water solution, let it dry and then paint the wall with waterproofing paint? Will that work?

  • Conventional or FHA with points?

I can afford to put 10% down payment on a house. Should I go with a conventional loan which I am approved for, or should I go with an FHA loan with a 3.5% down payment and buy points to lower the interest rate ? I have excellent credit and plan to stay in the house a minimum of 6 years. Which option would save me more money over the long run?

  • If I have a 1080i signal into my 720p tv, am I losing progressive scanning?

I just bought a Samsung HPT5064 Plasma thats 720p with a resolution of 1366 x 768. My HDTV cable box only outputs at 1080i. That probably means that my TV is downcoverting and losing pixels but am I getting the benefit of the progressive scanning of the 720p? Or would I only get that benefit if I had a progressive scan input like a progressive scan dvd player?

  • How do I get more channels on my old tv?

I have an old tv that only goes upto channel 32 and I want to watch all the 100+ channels that I get from my cable service. The tv does not have any AV socket (the red, white, yellow sockets you see on most tvs). What device do I need to look for so that I can set my TV to channel 3 and flip through 100+ channels on that device? If you could find me a sample on ebay or something that would be a great help! Thanks.

  • Can I use Skype Out and Skype In to replace my home phone?

I only need to make domestic US calls and I can get Skype In & Skype Out for about $5/month. How well does this work and can it really replace my landline phone? Are there any other alternatives? I know Vonage has service for $25/month but that's 5 times more than skype.

  • How can I program more channels in my old tv?

I have an old Philips PL3125 tv from 1994. The TV only seems to go upto channel 32 even though I get over 100 channels from my cable. Is it just that the tv doesn't support more than 32 channels? Or is there something I can do to program more channels? The TV doesn't have anything in its menu for programming channels. It's an old tv that used to be in a hotel.

  • After filing I-130/I-485 , what allows the non-US citizen spouse to remain in the country?

I will file I-130/I-485 for my non-US citizen spouse who is currently in the US on student visa. After filing I hear that the spouse can stay in the country while processing is being done. What do they give that allows her to stay? Is it some kind of stamp or visa? document of some sort? And how long does it take to receive this?

  • Can a non-US-citizen marrying a US-citizen stay in the country while filing?

I'm a US citizen and I'm planning on marrying my fiancee who's a non-US citizen in May 2007. I have to file the I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 together for my spouse. Once I file, her student visa expires in one month's time from marriage (in June). Can she stay in the country while the processing is being done after June?

Would it be a good idea to get married in a civil ceremony a month earlier in April so that we could file in a month earlier? Then perform the religious ceremonies and take pictues and everything in May. Or would that make it seem to them that the marriage was performed just for obtaining Green Card?

  • Building a Linux C++ project in Visual Studio?

I have a C++ project that compiles in linux using Makefiles. I want to edit this project using Visual Studio 2005 IDE. How can I get it to build?

The reason I want to use Visual Studio 2005 on Windows is because I like the IDE environment instead of using VI in Linux and running 'make' after every change.

  • Hawaii honeymoon planning help?

I'm planning a honeymoon in May for 8-10 days to two of these three islands(still not decided): Oahu, Maui, Kauai. What is the best way to plan this trip? Should I go through some travel agency or plan the trip details myself (booking flight, hotel, rental car etc.) ? What's best in terms of affordability and enjoyment? If planning on my own is better then what are some good resources?
