  • I'm building a mortared stone wall in Maine. What are my footer options?

Would sand be an option, or perhaps crushed gravel? Any thoughts?

I had a German Shorthair many years ago, and I'm about to get a Bluetick. Their markings are similar, and I was wondering in what ways they are similar, and if they share a common ancestor.

When it comes to drawing the smaller features, particularly around the face and muscles, do you continue to draw this way, or do you start using your wrist and fingers more? Is fine motor control something I can learn, even when drawing from the shoulder and elbow? Also, would people recommend using the protractor and compass consistently while mastering bodily proportions, or is it better to freehand it once I've got a general idea of what goes where? I imagine there's no definitive answer to any of these questions, but I'd like to hear what skilled artists have to say.

  • What are my options for connecting cable box to a television without coax input?

Using the RCA cables gives a lousy signal, but it's tolerable, so I'm thinking of getting a box that I can hook up to two RCA sources and switch back and forth between the two. It would be nice if there were another option, such as a way to convert the coax output on the cable box to the HDMI input of the television. Obviously I know the signal itself wouldn't magically become HD, but will it work?

Now my car is on its last leg, and I need a vehicle to transport the clients I work with. Although my credit isn't a problem, my debt-to-income ratio is. The woman at the credit union said it was over 90%, so I guess these student loans are killing me. I'd prefer not to buy a new car, but at this point it's clear that I'll have to. I'm looking around for reasonable rates--at least below 12%. Hopefully below 10%. 7% on a 60 month loan would be awesome. There are a lot of online companies out there, but I don't want them all submitting inquiries into my credit history. Any recommendations on how to go about this?

  • I want to use a cheap linux laptop with Foxit for reading PDFs. Any advice?

My plan is to use Foxit because it allows you to highlight and annotate sections of the PDF. Or at least it allows these functions in Windows. If that's the sole purpose of the laptop, what are the minimum specs that you think I could get away with? And are there better Linux apps for PDF markup? Thanks!
