  • How do I add a password to someone remote accessing my phone?

In two months, my Samsung S3 phone developed a R5000, or +- $460 bill, which equates to around 10 gigabytes of data. While i do browse Reddit on my phone, I make sure to only do it with mobile data switched off, and wifi on.

Therein, apparently, lies the problem. My service provider says that i may have been hacked through my wifi signal.

So I suppose my first question is, is this possible on an android phone? If so, my second would be how can i prevent it?

  • Can someone explain to me why my solution to a circle equation is wrong?

Points (-1;-7) and (3;5) form the diamete. So I worked out the middle point on that line, the center of the circle, which is (-1;1). I worked out the radius from that, and squared it, which came up to be 32.

    So (x-a)^2+((y-b)^2=32.

I then substituted the middle point into that equation, producing (x-1)^2+(y+1)^2=32.

the memo sheet gives 40 for r. Where have I gone wrong? I know that it gives the answer by substituting one of the edge points into the circle equation, then putting in the middle point, but my solution seems like it should work too.

Additionally, how would one determine whether a point is inside or outside a circle? that's the next question. And I remember at one point being forced to complete the square to solve a circle equation. is there any chance you can give an example of that? ircles are my weakest section.

Thanks in advance. Sorry to be a hassle.

  • Does bacteria produced insulin count as Pharming?

I have done a fair amount of research on pharming, and it is defined as organisms that are modified to produce a beneficial drug through their natural processes. Bacteria, such as the e. coli producing insulin seem to fit into this classification, but in the notes that I am studying from, it mentions them separately, and does not link them in any way. However, it also does not refute any connection. Furthermore, the Wikipedia page for Pharming lists only Animals and Plants, and does not mention bacteria, other than hinting that they are not included.

from this, I assume that they are, despite being essentially the same process, have different names. Can somebody clarify for me? And if so, can you explain why it is different? Both produce GMO's, both produce drugs beneficial to humans, but they are simply on a separate scale, animals and plants requiring to be grown before any harvesting can be done, bacteria only requiring to reproduce. is this the extent of the difference?

  • Urgent- Does a meningitis patient necessarily need to suffer from a fever?

My girlfriends mother mentioned that two people in the area had died of meningitis earlier in the week, so to be careful.

Now, my girlfriend has a stiff neck, is sensitive to light, occasionally nauseous, has a bad headache, has difficulty waking up (more so than usual), and says she "feels hot, but her skin feels cold." I think that means cold to the touch, but she feels like she is overheating.

We have taken her to her mother, who felt her for a fever, and said "Nope. She doesn't have meningitis."

Everything I have listed here is a symptom, but does meningitis necessarily have to be accompanied by a fever?

  • Are there any opportunities for a person leaving highschool to work as, say, a waiter on a cruise ship?

I met one or two people claiming to have done this. They say that it pays very well.

I am 18, and have two years work experience in retail, so customer service is something that I excel in. Are there any opportunities for this kind of thing? If so, where? What kind of pay could I expect? And how long would I be required to commit myself for?

Thank you for your help in advance.

  • How does not finishing an antibiotic course lead to a resistant strain?

My biology teacher wasn't very good at explaining this.

I know that the idea is that only the strongest bacteria survive the antibiotics, but would be killed by the rest of the antibiotic course. These survivors then go on to produce a resistant strain of bacteria.

Its the in between step that I cant grasp. How do they gain this immunity? Why is it that the descendants of the bacteria that reproduced, the ones that couldn't be killed by half a course of antibiotics, cannot now be killed by a full course of antibiotics?

When I asked my teacher to explain this, she explained it twice in the same way that she had before, and looked at me like I was stupid. I asked if it was all in one generation, and she started telling me the same story again.

Can anybody explain it to me?

  • My new scooter wouldn't start. Trouble shoot?

Alright, I bought a scooter about a month and a half ago.

It has been in the garage ever since. I didnt want to risk using it without a licence, because traffic cops hang out a lot in the area.

But I took it out yesterday, started it up, and drove to the top of a small, steep hill, and moved it onto the sidewalk. And it cut.

The lights turn on, and the hooter works. So i dont think it is the battery. But the ignition does nothing, nor does the kickstart. You hear nothing. I tried all the switches, but... nothing.

My uncle decided it was the battery, despite the fact that it started and drove, as well as was capable of using the hooter and lights. He took it to charge at his house, so I hope it works. but if he is wrong, any suggestions? The scooter is on warrantee, so Icant tamper with it. But is there anything simple, like tightening anything?

  • What exercise can I do to lose the weight on my hips?

I am an 18 year old male, a bit above average height, with a weight of 85.

That weight is not fat, but not all of it is muscle either. I have a quite thin layer of fat around my torso, which i think is normal. But the problem is that my hips are damn weird. I think I was wearing pants too tight for a few years, because when I wear something relatively loose now, it seems that the fat is spilling over the sides.

Now, this is incredibly irritating because it ruins my entire shirtless image. I look okay without pants, but im hardly going to a beach naked.

So my question is, how do I work the fat off? I don't know anything about exercise or weight loss. Is it area specific? you lose more fat in an area that you are working out? or does fat just get used from all around the body? More importantly, what exercises, how long, and how often?

  • Removing extensions on google Chrome?

Right, so I accidentally installed an extension called mixidj or something like that, by downloading another thing that didn't want to work either.

So now my Google opens up on that tab, and I cant get rid of it. I have deleted the extension, and I have deleted uninstalled the program, but it still opens up on that same tab.

  • What university courses would one study in order to become an editor/publisher?

Basically, I am 18, just finishing school and applying to university, and my dream is one day to own a publishing house.

But meanwhile, I have worked for a book shop for two and a half years, to get experience in the work place, as well as with literature and media. The idea is that this will set me apart from plenty of others.

My plan afterwards roughly involves me working for m stepmother for a couple of years, or throwing myself into whatever printed media publishing work I can get. This will get me further experience. After this, I will do my best to get work in a publishing house to gain experience with novel publishing, and eventually own my own.

Anyway, in the short term, I am having trouble picking the University subjects i would need. Can anybody (preferably involved the publishing industry) give me some indication as to what I would need?

My options involve - Media and Journalism Studies

    - English

    - English language and Linguistics

    - Languages

    - Creative Writing

    -Media and Writing

    -Applied English

    I would appreciate the help

  • Do I have a right to be angry at her?

Okay, this question is with reference to my gilrfriends mother. But first I need to explain a bit of family dynamics.

I have been going out with my girlfriend (Who I shall name Brittany) for a year and a half now. This has been a highschool relationship, and I am in my twelfth year. But about 8 months into our relationship, my mother had a mental breakdown (she is type two bipolar, i think, which is the stress induced version.) So at that point, my girlfriends mother (whom I shall name Sally for convenience) actually took me in, and allowed me to stay in her house. She also took my mother in, when she got out of the institution, and we have both been living here to this day. Sally is also currently going through a rough divorce, (as has my mother), and her husband has been living overseas for the past few years.

This is nothing short of saintly, I know.

But that's the problem. How can one be angry at a person who has been so nice to you?

I don't want to be told that there are certain idiosyncrasies that one will have, that will inevitably become abrasive to anyone in close quarters. That isnt what this is about.

She is addicted to farmville, or whatever those facebook games are. She will literally sit for hours playing those, and only get off her computer when she becomes hungry (which she is able to do because she does not have a job, living off the income of the overseas husband). Her son is ADHD, and incredibly immature, and he attends a remedial school (junior school; he is younger than my girlfriend or I). She does nothing to encourage him to do his homework, although she becomes almost irrationally angry at him when he does something wrong, although she never actually quantitatively punishes him. (by these, I mean that he can spend the whole afternoon running around and literally screaming, which she will do nothing about, but when she is driving him to school in the morning, and he mentions then that he hasnt done her homework, she starts shouting at him, that she should ground him, etc etc. But she never actually grounds him, or takes anything away from him. If she says that he is not allowed any screen-time for a week, the next afternoon he will be watching tv with her, or on the computer.) In addition to all that, she will frequently have a few drinks in the evening, which she will ask him to fetch for her. And every single drink, without fail, he will ask her "Mommy, may I please have a sip?" He is ADHD, which makes it worse.

In addition to that, she favours him over my girlfriend, frequently giving the excuse that "she has a boyfriend to buy her stuff", while she dotes on him. She will frequently return home with a chocolate or something for him, or with KFC packets in the car after picking him up. This is incredibly unfair, as she does nothing of the sort for her daughter.

Now on the topic of her daughter (my girlfriend), Sally frequently will tell her that she feels like she is living in a pigsty, since Brittanys room is a bit of a mess. But Sally's study is a skip, with chocolate wrappers and tissues lying across the floor, and papers lying everywhere. I cant stand this hypocracy, and I have told her, but her justification is that "Brittany needs to study in her room. I don't". Sally will often jump at grossly disproportionate exaggerations, trying to make brittany's lifestyle seem as horrific as possible, while her son will frequently just eat half a jar of nutella, (without spreading it on anything, I might add) without another word. actually, I am wrong. If i mention anything, like "Brittany didn't have any", she will respond "First come first serve." (although, funnily enough, she will freak out if something gets eaten without her having any of it.)

Sally also has a tendancy to be very over-sensitive, despite handing out insults freely, and responding "I was only joking. Get a life", or something to that effect.

I know she has been amazing to me, and that makes her a good person. But she is just such a damn bad person I can't help but to tear my hair out in frustration. Do I really have a right to be angry at her, after she has been so good to me? This is tearing me apart to live in lose proximity to her. I like her, when she is not being the person with the worst sense of justice and selfishness I have ever seen, but when she makes that switch to an abusive, harmful person, I really cant take it, to the extent to which I bought a motorized scooter with all my savings in order to escape.

  • How to represent shifts in a circle equation? I'm confused.?

I was given the problem y^2+x^2-8x+6y=15.

I was looking around online, and it seems that the equation format for a shift is (y+a)^2+(x+b)^2 = r^2

So now Im stuck. the site told me that the center of the circle will be (a;b) but Surely it should be an x and y shift, separate from squares? Wouldn't the squares change everything? So which one is the right equation? and if the website is right after all, what does the -8x+6y mean?

  • Do some organisms thrive in pollution?

I recently was required to do a river health survey for a school project, called the miniSASS. (South African Scoring System). It is a macro-invertebrate biodiversity count, for which I count the number of insects/crustaceans/molluscs. Each species has a different score on the scale, and all these scores are added up, and then averaged.

Theres the problem. They are averaged. If i found only a stonefly larvae, which is worth 17 points, the river would be considered very healthy. And if i found just a water snail, with a value of 1, then the river would be very unhealthy. That makes sense right?

But surely snails can survive in healthy water? If i found a snail and a stonefly larva in the same river, I would need to average their scores out, and give the river a score of 9, which seems ridiculous. Surely the river is just as healthy as if i found only a stonefly?

So i have been trying to rationalise this "flaw" for a while, and the only conclusion I can come up with is that some organisms find it easier to live in pollution than in fresh water. Then it would make sense. Say the snail lived better in pollution, and so its presence would be considered a sign of pollution. Then the score of 9 would make more sense.

Is there some other explaination for this? perhaps the organisms with a higher scoring eat the others. Something like that. That would allow for bioaccumulation of pollution, and would make it harder for them to survive. I really dont know.

    Help? thanks in advance.

  • French translation of Olivier de Sagazan (artist)?

There is a french performance artist called Olivier de Sagazan, who occasionally speaks during his performances. I have wondered for a long time what he is actually saying, and in what way it contributes to the art.

Is anyone willing to translate for me? I have to warn you, his work is incredibly weird. Nothing sexual, but unconventional nonetheless.

  • Proving an equilibrium reaction is not yet at equilibrium?

I am struggling with this question.

    H2 + I2 = 2HI

Kc of the reaction is currently 56

    0.01 mol/dm^3 of H2

    0.02 mol/dm^3 of I2

    0.2 mol/dm^3 of 2HI

It asks which reaction should be favoured to produce an equilibrium, and I think its pretty clear that the reverse reaction should be favoured, but It then asks to explain for three marks. I dont know what to do with that, other than talking about mol values being equal. would that be worth three marks?

Im not stupid. Its just that I learned this section a year ago, and i cant find my textbook. =[

  • I need to link a beard to Apartheid. Help?

My art teacher is notorious for arbitrary topics, so i decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. He asked the class to analyse a work of our choice from an exhibition, so I promptly took a photo of the most amazing beard I have ever seen.

The beard links to proudly displayed european origins, clearly, but how can I argue that it is a post apartheid work? thanks =]
