  • Breaking an apartment lease...please look at situation below?

    Hi everyone,

So I have signed an apartment lease starting in mid August this year and ending in mid August next year. I am a student at Penn State University and I am supposed to be rooming with a guy in a small one bedroom apartment.

At this point, I am kind of scared of rooming with him because he seems to be more crazy now than he was before I signed the lease with him. Basically, I found out some things that scare me about him which I cannot list here.

So my question is, although I have signed a lease, is there a way I can break it? (If not, then is there a way I can give it to someone else who would be ok rooming with him?)

Please let me know. I am hoping to move in with someone else in a different apartment.

  • Pyramid Scheme, selling renewable energy question?

Hi so I'm a student at an engineering college in Pennsylvania and I was offered a job by a renewable energy company in my area to sell renewable energy.

Basically, the way the job that I was offered works like this: I have to get people to sign up for a renewable energy service and it costs about 20% more than regular energy service. The company wants more people to sign up for its energy programs. If more people sign up, they put more renewable energy into the power grid.

However, I am not required to bring more people into working this job and I am not trying to recruit anyone. They simply told me to get more people to sign up because this was the only way of promoting renewable energy other than buying solar panels, wind turbines, and whatnot...

They also said they would pay me $50 per signup and that they would pay me for gas mileage if I traveled to local events such as 5K runs, walks, etc.

My question is: Is this a type of scam or is the opportunity really worth it? The company is Community Energy and they have a legitimate website and I have met all the people who work there. They are all really nice people. I met the CEO of the company and they have legitimate goals to accomplish even though only about 50-60 people work for the company. Their website is:

  • Love problems with friend. please help..?

So I have a very long story between myself and a friend of mine...

I'm a college student and she is a junior in high school.

Her and I became close about three years ago when I was a junior in high school and she was in 8th grade.

I know this issue might seem laughable and silly but I cannot seem to get over it.

Since I met her three years ago, I loved her so much and I did not want her to go away from me. I did not want to separate from her or grow apart.

However, in the past 6 months or so, things have been really rough and we fought like a married couple.

I was really mean and I hurt her so much in many ways since I have known her.

Although we fought so much, the bond was still there between us and we didn't leave.

So in order to get things back together, I asked one of my best friends to help me out. He was a very nice guy and knew how to talk to girls very well. I asked him to get things back between us and he agreed to do so no matter how long it took.

After four months or so, the fighting between her and I got so bad that she deleted me as a friend from facebook and cut off all communication with me.

Two weeks ago, my best friend, who is two years older than me, told her he had feelings for this girl and that he really liked her.

I got really jealous about this but I kept my cool well.

However, I learned so much from my best friend about how to treat girls right and I made so many changes in my life because of her.

I realize her worth now and I have changed so much.

However, within the past week she tells me she has a boyfriend and that she is with him now. Her boyfriend is NOT my best friend but it is someone else.

This just SHATTERED my heart and I cannot seem to get over it. I have had several sleepless nights, I have lost weight, and I have lost confidence.

I really want her for myself and for no other guy to be with but I think she is gone for good now. What should I do?

I have already said sorry many times and tried to get her back....I don't want her to be with any other guy. I love her so much.

Once again, this might be a laughable matter but I am very heartbroken.

Please help me by offering some advice. (Don't say to forget about her and move on. I can't do that because I've gotten so much from her. However, I won't be able to stand it if she has a boyfriend and has lost all faith in me.)

  • How to get work study and subsidized loans?

Hello, so I am an immigrant from the country of India and I have lived in the US for more than 11 years now. My family has applied for greencard and it has been 7-8 years now and we still haven't gotten it yet.

Because of this, I am not going to get Federal Aid because the Federal government only gives grants to citizens or greencard holders.

Another problem is, my parents' net income is a little over $110,000. Thus as a result, the state and the federal government expects us to pay for all of my college. I go to a commuter state school (Penn State Brandywine) and I asked the financial aid advisor if I will get work study and subsidized loans. However, she says that I can only be considered if I have an I-94 travel document (which I can only get if I travel out of the country and get my passport stamped).

    Thanks for the suggestions

  • How to get replacement ipod touch for cracked screen?

    Hello world,

So recently, I dropped my Ipod touch on a concrete ground and it cracked the lower right side of my screen. It is a medium sized crack about 3/4th of an inch long. My ipod still works normally with this crack. I wanted to ask, could I get a replacement for this? I don't like seeing the crack every single day when using my ipod.

I know that apple says on its website that it won't cover cracked screens under its one year warranty but is it still possible to get it replaced? If so, can someone tell me how I can do that?

    Thanks. Only serious answers please

  • Raffle Ticket Question...splitting a prize.?

So recently, I won a raffle ticket prize. The prize was 250 dollars Barnes and Noble gift card.

But my friend had the raffle ticket that I gave to him because I could not stay the whole event. I told him, "here is my raffle ticket. I'm giving it to you because I have to leave early"

So since he had it, would I have to give him half of the 250 dollars? Is that a common custom in the United States?

I know in India, if I won the raffle, I would not be required to give him anything since it is mine.

Please give me some suggestion on this topic. Thanks!

  • I mistakenly sped past a school bus...?

Ok so I asked this question a little earlier today but I forgot to mention one crucial thing.

As I was driving (in the state of PA, if that's important at all), I saw a school bus slowing down but I was not slowing down along with it. So the school bus had its red lights flashing and then stopped. I didn't think I could stop so quickly (because I was going at around 35 mph) and I was just a little behind the school bus, so I went right past. If I stopped immediately, I would've had to go from 35 mph to 0 mph in 2 to 3 seconds, which I thought was dangerous so that's why I went past even though it had the lights blinking. After I went by, the driver honked me and I got really scared so I went into an apartment complex and I kinda hid there.

I'm really really scared that I'm going to get a ticket or I will lose my license (I am 18 years old and I just got my license last June.)

What can I do at this point? Do I have any hope? I'm not sure if the driver caught my license plate number or not.

Please help me or give me some advice.

    Thank you!

Ok so I was going at around 35 mph in the state of PA and I went past a school bus. I didn't think I could stop so quickly so I went past. I was just a little behind the school bus when I passed it. Then I heard a honk as I went past. I was not texting, listening to music or doing anything distracting. The thing was that I also have allergies and they were acting up for the whole day, even while I was driving. I'm really afraid of losing my license or being ticketed. I'm so scared. What can I do now?

  • Work Kinetic Energy Problem, help please...?

I had a question regarding the above topic. I had no clue how to solve this type of problem. If someone could please explain how to do this step by step, I would really appreciate that.

The only force acting on a 3 kg canister that is moving in the x-y plane has a magnitude of 7.0N. The canister initially has a velocity of 6 m/s in the positive x-direction and sometime later has a velocity of 9 m/s in the positive y-direction. How much work is done on the canister by the 7N force during this time?

    Thank you very much.

  • How do I build a catapult or launching device to launch a football?

    Hello world,

I wanted to ask how I could build a catapult or a simpler device that could launch a regular sized football the same distance after every launch. I have heard that slingshots work but I am not sure how to proceed with this?

Could someone give me ideas on how I could launch a football a certain distance every time without just throwing it with my bare hands?

  • Calculus Question, (Acceleration/Velocity)?

Hi, I had a question regarding acceleration and velocity. This relates to find the value of acceleration, then taking the integral to find the velocity, then taking the derivative to find the position.

A car accelerates at a constant rate from 0 to 50 mph (73.3ft/sec) in 6 seconds. How far does it travel in that time?

Could someone please explain how to do this problem to me please?

  • Derivative solving help? College Calculus I?

    Hello world,

So I tried to solve this derivative problem and I tried doing it several ways. However, my online homework system kept telling me that my answer was wrong. Here is the problem.

    f(t) = (3x^2 + 5x + 5) (3x^2 + 3)

    The answer that I got after multiplying through this whole equation was: 3x^4 + 15x^3 + 18x^2 + 15x + 15

Could someone please tell me what I did wrong and why my answer was wrong. Please tell me the correct solution as I have tried this problem three times and I have still gotten it wrong.
