  • How do Muslims "prove" they are Muslim in order to enter Mecca or Medina?

Are there special papers? I'm just curious how they could keep non-Muslims out of these cities.

  • How do you obtain proof of being Muslim?

Islam is one of the easiest religions to convert to, because you simply have to say that there is one God and Muhammed is His prophet, but in order to go to certain Muslim sites, you have to present "proof" that you are Muslim.

What do you do exactly? How do you obtain the "proof"?

(I am not Muslim and I am not thinking about pretending to be one in order to go somewhere. I am just curious to know how Muslims prove themselves)

  • If Ghana gets booted, is it even worth it to watch the Cup?

It's probably my own fault for cheering for the teams that are not expected to win, but with South Korea gone and now Japan, Ghana is the only nation outside of Europe and Latin America left to watch...

Probably not many other people feel the same, since everyone seems to hop on the bandwagon and cheer for whatever team wins. I was keeping track of the Cup all the time, but with the games coming down to the boring countries, I'm losing interest...

  • Does Australia forbid foreign zoos from acquiring platypus?

I was trying to find a zoo with a platypus and noticed that there are no platypus in any zoo outside of Australia. This strikes me as odd, since the platypus is such a unique and well-known animal. Perhaps Australia has a law or something that prevents outsiders from acquiring platypus?

If not, do you know why there are no zoos in the world that have one?

  • Field Museum or Shedd Aquarium?

How long would you estimate to see both of these museums? Would it cut out a lot of time if I skipped the stuffed animals at the Field Museum and just looked at the cultural exhibits (or are the stuffed animals worth it?)

I really don't think I'll have enough time to visit both, so I would like to know which you recommend and why.

I've looked at the websites of both places and of course, they both look interesting. Internet reviews rave about both, too. The Field Museum website is surprisingly not very engaging, but reading on other sites makes it seem really worthwhile (they should really rethink their webpage!). The aquarium website is enough to make it look interesting, and the reviews are in favor...

Which would you visit if you had to recommend one for someone who has never been to either before?

  • Which teams have impressed you the most? Which have disappointed you the most?

I haven't been able to watch every game, but Japan is surprising me (I always peg them as bottom-players). Algeria surprised me against England. Thought they'd be beat easily, but they were really the better team. New Zealand is pretty surprising, too, even though they only got draws.

I'm a little disappointed in Ghana. They have potential but should have beat Australia. South Africa has been disappointing, and obviously Cameroon and Nigeria. I hope North Korea can do better. I'd have more, but I wasn't disappointed at all by Spain's loss and other surprises! lol

  • All else aside, what team has the sexiest players and which has the ugliest?

This is hard, because I see uglies and hotties mixed on most teams, but I'll also give it a go:

Sexiest: Maybe Algeria (South Korea and Cameroon may be runners-up)

Ugliest: Maybe Honduras (Serbia and Argentina may be runner-ups)

  • Aside from America, is anyone here cheering for any teams outside of Europe and Latin America?

Just curious if there are any fans here of non-European and non-Latin American countries, because it seems everyone is cheering for Germany, Mexico, etc.

Anyone have any love for any African teams? Asian? New Zealand?

  • What country that has NEVER won the World Cup would you like to see win?

Past winners have been: Italy, Brazil, Uruguay, England, Germany, Argentina, and France.

Choose any EXCEPT for those countries. Skill or likelihood of winning mean nothing (just choose an actual competing team, though!). It's just your choice!

Personally, I cheer for Asia and Africa. It's difficult to decide, but maybe I would want Ghana...
