My father in law died in January, 2010 after being married only 42 days. His new wife stayed in the apartment but we do not have a copy of the lease that was signed in 1986. The rent and deposit was $700.
Does she need to sign a new lease? Who is responsible for the condition of the rental? Is she as the tenant since the rental company allows her to stay month to month? What liability does the family's estate have as the apartment is in terrible shape since they never allowed any maintenance for the past 19 years. There is black mold and the carpet is worn to the sub floor. Who gets the deposit? Does she even though she remains in the property? This is California.4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade ago
My transmission light is flickering between N & D. Then it either stays in N or goes back to D. It doesn't matter if I drive it 5 miles or 50. It is at the dealer now for the third time.
They replaced the lightbulb, changed the transmission fluid and now I am waiting at home. What could be wrong with it? I am moving to the SF bay area at the end of this month and don't want to buy a $5k transmission for a car worth only slightly more than that even though it has only 64K miles.1 AnswerSaab1 decade ago
Does Stephanie Courtney or Flo in those Progressive insurance ads wear a plastic bump to make her hair full?
I can't believe that her natural hair is that high.6 AnswersHair1 decade ago
My husband may be given an offer in the $125,000 range. I don't know what my pay range will be since I haven't looked for a job in the area.
Since homes are $1.7 million we will only be able to rent as we previously owned homes in Texas and Ohio where you don't build much equity or have rapid appreciation.
We will be going there on October 18th to look at different towns. Any input would be appreciated as this will be a quick study. I have read all the Best Places, etc., but need to know traffic, community life, and restaurants rather than dry stats such as crime, climate which I can get from the web. We do not have children so schools are not an issue but proximity to work will be.1 AnswerSan Francisco1 decade ago

I was told by a Wells Fargo recruiter today that they have no interview times available. Since their web site indicates many open jobs, this seems like they are not being factual. The recruiter said that the next step was a face to face interview, but no time has been available for the last two weeks.1 AnswerFinancial Services1 decade ago
My Saab's transmission slipped and the transmission light came on. The dealer said the transmission fluid's viscosity was strange and the wrong color. I bought the car used in Texas and haven't had the fluid changed since it has less than 60k. There doesn't seem to be a computer or transmission problem. What would cause this? They are guessing that changing the fluid 30k early would fix the problem at very little cost.10 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
I went to Ohio for two weeks and when I returned a small orange leak was running under my right front tire. I took the car to Firestone and they said to take it to the dealer because it may be a head gasket. Wouldn't a head gasket be leaking oil instead of water/antifreeze? Wouldn't it be more likely be a hose, water pump or radiator?8 AnswersSaab1 decade ago
My mother was naturalized after marrying my father in 1951 or 1952 but my grandfather burned the papers before he died. Several members of my family would like to become dual citizens of Australia, but need the actual date. How could we get these records?2 AnswersImmigration1 decade ago

I read that if you lose all your keys the computer must be replaced at a cost of $2000 and then get new keys at $49 each and programming of $85. I lost my husband's key (only one) and had to pay for the key and programming. The dealer confirmed that the computer would be $2000, but Toyota would cover the computer's cost of $1600, not the labor of $400 or so.4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
