  • Is it so wrong to audition with a song from Chicago?

I need to have two contrasting songs for a musical theater audition (not for a specific show; I'm auditioning for the 2011 season at a theater company). I'm doing "A Part of That" from "The Last 5 Years," because it's upbeat at first but slows down. Gives me an opportunity to showcase a couple different emotions as well. I wanted to do more of a sexy, sultry song for my second number because the first song shows vulnerability. I wanted to do "Nowadays" but I also realize that people advise against Chicago selections. What do you guys think? I'm a mezzo-soprano, good belt, and I want to do a song that is in contrast both personality and tempo-wise to "A Part of That."
