  • Hiking the Hana highway?

I'm wondering if it's possible to hike the Hana highway. I know it's supposed to be a great drive but I'd rather walk if possible/feesible. Can it be done.

Also is it safe to camp along it. I read a site that said never ever camp by yourself. Seems over the top to me but is there lots of crime or something.

  • Parallels for Mac. Simple question. ?

I need to stop the virtual machine so that I can allocate more memory to the Windows side. How do I stop the machine without having it disappear so that I can make the adjustments. When I hit the stop button the window just disappears and I can't make any adjustments with Parallels closed.

  • Nikon D40 silly problem?

I had a friend play with my camera while I wasn't around. He can't remember what he did but now when I play back through the pictures there is a ghost overlay with all of the picture info on it and you can't see much of the actual picture. I can't figure it out and have tried everything over a couple weeks. Can anybody help me? I'm sure it's a simple fix. I just want to see the pic or a quick slideshow without reading the exposure, metering, shutter speed, type of camera and all that stuff.

  • MacBook Pro really slow with data stored on DVDs?

I just bought a MacBook Pro and have recently only owned PC's. I really like the Mac but I am not sure about a couple of things. I have an AVI movie collection stored on DVDs that I want to transfer to hard disk but the Mac is really slow getting data of the DVD. 2 minutes on a PC compared to an hour or more on a Mac. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Also the disk drive is really noisy when I load a disk. Sounds like plastic cracking, is this normal? It is fresh out of the box.

  • Best make of boat for a starter?

I want to get into boating. Problem is that there are so many builders that it's difficult to know if you are buying a brand name known for quality or cheap junk. I am doing my research online before travelling to see these boats so I would like to know what the reputation of a few of the makes are. I'm looking for a 23-24 footer that can be towed, fished and slept in and I like a few styles. If anybody could comment on the makes below I would appreciate it.

  • 2004 Dodge Dakota?

I am thinking about buying a 2004 Dakota extended cab with the 4.7 V8. Does anybody have one of these and care to comment about reliability, gas mileage, power, durability etc. Also from the literature I've read the 4.7 isn't called the Magnum but the Powertech. I'm sure the engine says 4.7 Magnum. Any thoughts on that as well.

  • Electricity problem that requires some lateral thinking?

I have a wall with three light switches. I can't get behind the switches to see any wiring. There is a regular light bulb on the ceiling in a room on the other side of the building that only one of the switches operates. This room cannot be seen from where the switches are located. I am allowed to make only one trip to the room and must tell which switch works the light, I have only a ladder and myself no tools of any kind. How can I tell which switch controls the lightbulb.

  • How do you rent a motorcycle in Spain?

I'm travelling to Spain in late April. I am wondering if it is possible to get a cheap motorcycle rental. What do I need for a license. And can it be taken to other countries. I was thinking of riding a motorcycle to Italy. Is this possible or do I have to buy.

  • What is the terminology used to discuss a society that is ruining itself by enforcing rules for protection?

I may not have asked that correctly due to space. I am Canadian and I feel that in Canada we freely give up rights all of the time for rules that are supposedly protecting our people. For example eventually smoking may be banned in the country. Trans fats are being banned. I could go on forever. The problem is that eventually, if the trend continues, it may be realized eventually that we have created a tightly restricted society that is not very nice to live in.

Anyway how can I do some reading on this topic. Does it have a name. Is anybody writing about this kind of thing. Is it a common problem in democracy. Any help would be great.

  • Biofuel is ignorant. Who's with me.?

Please agree or dispute these claims.

Millions of children die of starvation every year. To use productive farmland for energy to drive a superpower economy is unjust.

To take something that is necessary for the land to be able to grow vegetation and burn it because you are too lazy to walk might be the final nail in the coffin.
