Tell me why?6 AnswersPolitics1 decade ago
Okay, I'm a US traveler. On visiting Edinburgh last month I was walking the streets at night along Leith Walk near York. Pubs everywhere. A good thing for me. But I noticed that there were tons of people standing outside smoking infront of every pub and few people inside. I would go inside, order a Belhaven and go outside with everone else to have a cigarette. Almost everybody was doing this.
So the question is:
Is the no smoking in Pub law working or not working. All the smoke was now outside on the walkways. Seems to me the law isn't working like it was intended to.

Just returned back to US from Scotland/England.
Edinburgh thinks Glasgow is below them.
Glasgow thinks Edinburgh is too snooty.
Edinburgh doesn't like the borders. Glasgow is okay with them. All in Scotland dislike the English.
The English think the Scots are barbarians. The English in Petersboro think the English in Carslile are scum. Okay, there is alot going on here. You don't have to stick to the specific examples.
The larger question is: What are the cultural differences here. By the way, I had a great time in all the places I visited in the UK and can't wait to return.4 AnswersOther - United Kingdom1 decade ago

Returned from Scotland. Pipes and Drums marched to "The Black Bear". In the pause, people yelled either "Roar" or "War" or "Yeah".
