  • Can an individual collect donations for a non-profit?

I want to help raise money for a specific educational fund. The goal is to raise $5,000. I'd like to use my Paypal account to set up an easy way to solicit funds from other alumns. My question is this: Are donations that are made to my Paypal account considered tax-deductible? I intend to donate %100 of the monies donated, and I'm even going to cover Paypal's cost. Does anyone know if this is a legitimate tax deduction, as long as a thank you letter comes from the education fund, which IS non-profit?

  • Inexpensive alternative to fireplace glass?

I'd really like to replace our ceramic gas logs with a glass fire pit look in my living room......my question is this: is there an inexpensive alternative to what seems to be a $500 proposition right now? Will any kind of glass work? Will ground up granite work? Any ideas are appreciated.

  • Iphone or Xbox? HELP!!?

My 19 year old son is growing weary of his PS2 and has talked to us about upgrading to Xbox as a Christmas present. Because he is a busy college athlete with a part-time job, I'm not sure how much use/enjoyment he will get out of it. I'm thinking that he will get more overall enjoyment on a daily basis from an iphone.

What are your opinions on this? He is NOT expecting the iphone, so I'm hoping he will be surprised, vs. the Xbox whicch he almost expects. And, if he hates it, he can return it and get the Xbox he wants......what do you thing?

Please submit your open-ended, non-leading questions with your first name and hometown, and your question might be pulled from the fishbowl!

This is the first time I know of that Yahoo Answers has been utilized in this way, so please put your best foot forward!!

  • I need some good pageant questions?

I need some good on stage questions to pull out of a fish bowl during a Miss America local......

questions should be non-leading in nature, and can be on any subject from current events to philosophy....I'm not looking for real stumpers, but rather questions that reveal alot about each person individually.

If i choose your question, you will be given credit from the stage, so you may put your first name and hometown down ONLY if you wish.....otherwise you will be credited only as your yahoo screen name.

The pageant is this weekend, and I really appreciate the help!!

  • Pageant Questions ?!?

I am looking for great questions to ask during a Miss America local pageant. The best answers will be credited to you onstage during the eveningwear portion of the pageant......

questions should be general, non-leading questions that anyone can answer: i.e. if you had to cast a vote today, which presidential candidate would you vote for? Or what is the greatest challenge you have faced in your life so far?

Only serious questions will be considered, so please be courteous

    Thanks!!

  • Canine Foreign body removal......what is the cost?

I just took my beloved dog into the vet this morning. She has been vomitting for the past 24 hours, getting increasingly worse. I was told that they would run labs and look into pancreatitis as the diagnosis. Just this cost me $700 (tests, antibiotics, pain med, x-rays, day at hospital)

The vet just called and told me that the x-rays could indicate a foreign body in her intestines.

My question is this.....if she needs surgery to remove a foreign body, what is the approximate cost of such a surgery? We are already $700 into this, and I cannot justify spending thousands right now on my 10 year old mix-breed. Don't get me wrong. I love my dog, but I have to eat, and the vet doesn't have a payment plan.

Does anyone know a rough estimate on how much a gasteric surgery might cost....$1000? Or $5000?
