  • My boiler is leaking form a pipe.. help before I drown!?

M boiler is leaking form a (1")pipe that shoots up from the top of the boiler near the front left corner, an inch away from a larger pipe. the leaking pipe goes backward and runs down the back of the boiler, it's cut off about 3" from the floor. aside from where it exits the boiler, the pipe doesn't touch the boiler again. There is a valve??? on the pipe. It's round and has a metal thing that looks a little like a one of those plactis straws that comes with travel cups. The metal thing san be spun around rather freely, and that spinning action doesn't seem to do anything. If I pull up on the 'straw thing', water shoots out of the pipe where it is cut off near the floor - it stops when I put the 'straw' down. The water seems to be brown- with rust (?) (noot totally brown, but murky). the exiting water is also VERY hot.

MY model number is PV83WT - TBWF

I looked at the reading on the guage, but don't understand what they mean. I gathered that the:

    temperature is 60degrees &about 150degrees (F, C??)

the pressure? is 10 (on the upper reading at the bottom of the dial)

the pressure? is 105 (on the lower reading on the bottom of the dial)

I'm not sure what else to add.

So...what is this pipe, why is it leaking, what needs to be done? Is this something that I can fix, or do I need a professional?

I can provide pictures if needed.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Must reads for a 15yo Latina?

My god daughter is having her Qunce, and her mom asked me to find a book to give her as a 'must read' guide to becoming an adult...

I decided to buy a nice chest and include 15 books. I'm focusing on fiction that imparts lessons in a youthful manner. I'm going multicultural, and since she is Puerto Rican and Black, I want to get some feedback so I can include some books by, for or about Latina women - including Puerto Rican Women.

I'm particularly interested in books that address identity. I do want to include some nonfiction as well.

I did find a list of 25 books, but I need to be able to read these and choose by this summer, so I'm hoping to get recommendations that people are really passionate about.

You may email me at at any time.

  • Share experiences with LANAP - laser dental surgery for periodontitis?

My husband has periodontal disease with a lot of bone loss. His teeth were loose, and his gums bled a lot.

His initial dentist did scaling and root planing- never mentioning that his teeth were close to falling o out of his head. We were unable to finish their prescribed treatment b/c of money issues.

We went to the NYU dental clinic where the sutdent doctor and supervising doctor strongly suggested removing ALL his teeth and installing implants. We had heard about LANAP, but very little unbiased information was out there - most was from the dentists and lanap machine companies. There were a couple videos on youtube that seemed believable. When I mentioned this to the dentists (who wanted to extract all my husband's teeth), they actually laughed in my face- they were VERY condescending and said nothing can regrown bone, and the laser probably wouldn't regenerate soft tissue either.

We decided to go to a dentist for a consultation anyway. The dentist herself seemed honest and trustworthy, but the office financial person really hit us with the hard sell. I'm a very skeptical person, and I was totally turned off b/c of the financial lady's tactics. My husband, on the other hand was so scared of loosing his teeth that he insisted on taking the leap out of desperation. It cost us about $5500.

In early May, they did half his mouth, then the other half the following week. he went back in 2-3 weeks later and had a stint (a support for his loose teeth) installed, then again for the occlusal guard- a plastic insert that sort of snaps onto the teeth. He has a follow-up in august.

It didn't seem like there was a LOT of pain, but he's a man, and acted like he was dying. there was some bleeding for a day or so. After the initial bleeding stopped, my husband hasn't bled at night- at all.

He also says his teeth feel 'tighter' and more secure. He wasn't able to bite down on anythign w his front teeth before the procedure, and now he can. He does have a lof of sensitivity to sweets and cold stuff.

We don't have the long term results not, but, it seems to be doign what the doctor promised so far.

I'm wondering 2 things - will he need more treatments in order to regenerate the bone?

    What are other people's experiences??

  • When did your feet stop growing?

I have a 13yo son with size 12 feet. I found a great deal on some sneakers, and I was thinking about getting him a few pairs in larger sizes for later in the school year.

He went from a size 8 to a size 12 in a year and a half. He's 5'9 and I expect him to get taller. Would it be wise to invest in some 13's or 13.5's?? Is there a good chance that he WON'T grow into them?

  • Have you ever seen anything stupider?

My son (13) is grounded, and was home alone all day. Somewhere around 3pm, he went outside to our big big old tree, used a stick as an anchor and wrapped two ropes around a tree branch then tied each rope to one end of his skateboard. The skateboard was about 8 feet off the ground. He climbed up onto the skateboard using a chair- which he kicked over on his way up- and remained stuck until I got home from work. I'm utterly amazed at the stupidity of his my son crazy???

Oh... after every windy day, my son has to pick up dozens of fallen branches from this old tree...

  • Possible to call to get mortgage interest reduced?

Is is possible to call the lender and get your interest rate reduced? We've had this loan for about 3 years, never missed a payment. It's not an ARM, but it IS a high interest rate. It was originally part os an 80/20 loan.

Refinancing in NY is expensive b/c of all the taxes, so I don't want t do that at this moment. So- can I call up the lender and get the rate reduced- even temporarily?

  • can't install fonts --will this workaround work?

At work, I had installed abotu 25 fonts. Now, they're gone and I can't reinstall them. If I embed them into a document at home, and open the doc at work, will I be able to create other documents using these fonts??

    I'm thinking, either:

A- the fonts will magically be placed in my c:windows/fonts folder or

i will have to open this file and start typing within the line that has my desired font in order to create new docs, and when I save them as what they are, the font will stay with them...

Sound reasonable? Does anyone know if this will work?

  • how can I open the case of my toshiba satellite a105?

I ant to pull out the hard drive and replace it (I dropped the machine, now the hd clunks and OS is not found), but it seems that there are screws holding it in place, and I'd need to take the case off in order to get to the head of the screw. I've googled my head off looking for a manual, but I can't find one for my particular model.

I'm taking out all the B6 screws first as these seem to e holding the machine together- they're the longest, I think.

  • Is there a way to give custody quickly?

I need to send my daughter to live with my cousin in Tennessee for the school year. I live in NY.

Is there a way to get custody or guardianship to my cousin within a couple weeks?

The NY court says the process could take months. The TN school will not allow my daughter to be registered by my cousin w/o custody papers.

I would like ot have her in school when they start the new term on Jan 7.

It's hard to type this, but here's the best I can do. If you can solve the problem step by step, that would be helpful. This is one of my daughter's homework problems, and I don't think she's doing it right, but I'm not positive.

    The ^2 is squared

and the line is the fraction line.

  • In which (European) countries can an American citizen live and be gainfully employed for about a year?

I'd like to go overseas for six months to a year or so. I'd like to go to another country with my family (husband, wife, two kids) and live while gainfully employed. I'm an English teacher w/ a Ma in instructional technology.

I'd like to try a European country b/c I think the culture shock wouldn't be as great as, say, an asian country. It seems that all the job postings are for third world countries and I don't think we're ready for that.

It is possible? Are there legit agencies?

    any ideas?
