my sierra 4x4 will start and move like 30 feet and then it starts slipping and wont go. moves fine when cold. i can get another 4l60e transmission for cheap, but its from a 1994 chevy 4x4. will it fit? what kind of modification can i do to make it fit? or is there an easy fix to why my trans is slipping once its warm?4 AnswersGMC1 decade ago

i have a 94 vw golf
my radio doesnt turn on at all, and when the lights are on at night.. the only dash light i have is one of the lights over the clock, the speedo light is out, the instrument cluster has no light. the rear wiper also isnt working.
this isnt a fuse problem.. already checked them.
and when the drivers door is open and the keys are out of it, it beeps like the keys have been left in it.

I have a 1995 honda civic DX coupe, 5 speed. and i have a 1995 honda civic Si coupe, automatic for parts. the motor is ok in the Si, but it has high KMs. I want to swap the Vtec head from the Si into the DX. I want to know if this is possible/how hard of a job is it? i am mechanically inclined but havent worked on my engines, just mostly parts replacement/etc.
would i be better off rebuilding the si engine and bolting it up to the DX transmission/is that even possible?

i went out and started up my colt to let it warm up the other morning... when i came back outside with my coffee to take off, it died as soon as i put it in 1st gear. it turned over for a good 30 seconds and then started, but then it died right away. i let it sit for 5 minutes, tried it again and it went after i held the pedal to the floor. i made it 300 yards down the road and it died again. i towed it home, and all i could get out of it was sputtering, would not start.. so i dropped the fuel filter off, put a new one on.. i can still hear the fuel pump turn on when i turn the key. there is fuel pressure building up because i opened one end of the filter and it spurted. i then thought maybe the cat was plugged off, so i dropped the downpipe.. no avail.
i'm out of ideas and want to know what you guys think before i dig deeper. its a winter beater, i'm not spending alot of cash on it. any ideas? its just rolling over and not kicking in5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
my tracker's manifold turns orange when i run it for 10-15 minutes, it is getting so hot that it has ruined my new valve cover gasket and it started leaking oil again. i've cut off from the convertor back, and put new 2 1/4" pipe, as well as a new muffler, i replaced the fuel filter, i am out of ideas. has anyone ever seen this happen? i cant think of what it could be, its a 94 chevy/geo tracker, it has a ractive air filter, i recently replaced the valve cover gasket and changed the oil, the engine temperature is not going up, just the manifold is heating up. there are no clogs in the pipe at all, there is lots of compression.2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
i noticed the header on my tracker was turning orange after i drive it for a short period of time, i assumed it was the catalytic convertor, so i cut a hole in the bottom of it and cleaned it out. i figured with a hole in the bottom of my convertor there is no way it could overheat, so i took it for a drive before i welded the convertor back together.. and it is still heating up. its getting very hot, and has caused my valve cover gasket to leak a bit, adding oil to the heat. if i drive it now its gonna catch on fire, so i have to figure out why it is heating up so bad? my temp gauge is staying at normal, just the exhaust manifold is heating up. what could this be?1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
I have a 96 cavalier z24 with the 2.4 twin cam in it, i know, chevs suck.
yesterday i was picking up speed and it started clattering very loud in the motor. i know i spun a rod bearing. i drove about 3-5 kilometers home and parked it. i have a guy who will put the rod bearings in for me cheap, but my question is.. would driving it the few kilometers ruin anything else? i'm going to have the crank turned at a machine shop while hes got it apart, what else should i check out or replace?

i drive a 1993 ford probe GT.. its a 2.5 DOHC KLDE engine, with a little over 300,000km's on her, it works great other than the fact that the lifters are ticking.
it needs an oxygen sensor, i know for sure because of the crappy mileage and my engine light comes on and off as it pleases.. but i'm wondering what i can do to get rid of the ticking, or will it hurt my car any more to let it tick?
i know probes and 2.5 fords in general are known for a tick in the lifters.. a friend of mine has had a tick for 3 years in his.. but is there something i can do to get rid of it? maybe an oil change with thicker oil and a good stabilizer with teflon or something?

I'm trying to find a 'bearing carrier' or 'axle carrier' for the 1987 250x Honda ATV. Also a 300ex carrier will fit. The cheapest i hav e found, shipped to Canada, is $140 Canadian.

every time i hit the brakes, my brake light fuse pops. i have no brake lights, i've checked the bulbs and the wiring for shorts, nothing.
someone told me to test the switch, by unplugging it and crossing the 2 wires that go into it.. this just makes it spark. what does this mean?
i'm stumped, been driving without brake lights for weeks now because i dont have a secondary car.

i have a 1996 pontiac firefly hatchback with a 1995 4 cyl swap. it was working fine up until 2 days ago and my brake lights stopped working.
my turn signals still work, and the tail lights come on with my headlights, but brake lights wont come on at all.
i've checked the bulbs and i've checked the fuses.. i've looked all around by the brake pedal to see if there was a plugin unplugged.. what else could it be?
