Oddly enough, a subject which Republicans such as Paul Ryan are particularly proud of, maintaining "defense spending," which has gone up 70% in 10 years and will not be decreased even a penny, instead increased. An interesting paradox.
If you ever look at the balance sheet of a large company, they go through all this effort to do business and make a profit, and then the government comes in and confiscates an obscene amount of money. This may be the source of economic and innovative stagnation.11 AnswersPolitics7 years ago

Between two other nations / forces. For instance Assad versus Al Qaeda.
Or does it encourage wars between forces deemed a threat?
A similar example is the issue of capture or kill of terror subjects, some of whom will be citizens. It has been reported that the Obama administration has a preference for kill, regardless of Constitutionality or extreme ease of capture.

'Senator Rand Paul detailed his views on diplomacy Tuesday in a speech before the Center for the National Interest.....The US, he said, should employ trade and diplomacy whenever possible while scaling back overseas police action...
The Senator criticized neoconservatives for having forsaken this tradition, arguing that they really promote “not a neoconservatism but a neoisolationism in which diplomacy is distrusted and war is, if not the first option, the preferred option.”
“Neoconservatives brag of their desire for engagement, but increasingly preach a doctrine that is hostile to diplomatic engagement,” said Paul. “To this crowd, everyone who doesn’t agree with them is the next Chamberlain. To this crowd, anyone who doesn’t clamor first for the military option is somehow an isolationist. The irony is that the crowd that claims they want to engage often opposes diplomatic engagement.” '5 AnswersPolitics7 years ago
