  • What is school for? If it is truly for learning, why is it so inefficient?

Who else has thought this? I am 15 and in 10th grade, but I know more than most of my teachers. I have asked my teachers before; some questions that they were unable to answer (of course, within their field), so I question how they could not know so many things if they are teachers for this. Who else has thought this? I am 15 and in 10th grade, but I know more than most of my teachers. I have asked my teachers before; some questions that they were unable to answer (of course, within their field), so I question how they could not know so many things if they are teachers for this. Another thing is, I don't learn much at school that I don't already know, and I cant stand being there. I am tired of how mindless everyone seems to be, not only that but everyone is like a puppet, if I wanted to I could influence almost anyone to do anything. My teachers have said before that certain assignments are completed as though by a college level student, but that does not mean I make good grades, but I know the reason is because I really don't care. Long story short: I hate school, and I could learn a year's worth of information in about two weeks (and so can many other people if teaching weren't so simplified). Why does school not allow teachers to use proper techniques to teach in a shorter amount of time? My own answer for this is that we are being tested for our tolerance and behavior, rather than intelligence, but I would like to see other answers. If it were to just learn about what we need to know for the so called "real world", then why is it that half (not literally but an exaggeration for what seems like a lot) of whats taught is not important unless you decide to get a carrier in that field? If we only go to learn basic knowledge, then wouldn't this not have to be taught until college? And if teach it, why not teach it with ought flaw (for example, the food pyramid is wrong, and the "Freytag's pyramid" for writing is just annoying in plots, not only that, but the Big bang theory is completely wrong because of gravity and the 5th dimension. In addition to that, humans have 10 senses, not 5: Magnetoreception, Nociception, Proprioception, Thermoception, Equilibrioception, Mechanoreception, Olfaction, Gustation, Audition, and Vision, but they are not taught.) If teach something, teach it right. One time on a test, a math teacher put that a trigon had 2 sides the same and 1 side different, so the question was wrong already.

  • You receive a mysterious package in the mail... what do you do?

This is me searching for inspiration. You receive a strange package in the mail. You know no one who lives in New York (you live not in NYC), and you have no idea what it could be. Unable to stop the overwhelming drive of curiosity, you open the package, hoping no psycho has sent you a bomb or anthrax. Inside, wrapped in blue and sea-green gift-wrap-tissue, is a ship in a bottle, the old fashioned kind with sails on it and everything, in a clear glass, square-sided bottle. What do you do?

I'm only 5'5'' and 110 lbs but maybe if they do anymore petite auditions I could make it? What website should I look on for information? What are my chances?

i am appalled by the amount of hatred that is acceptable, even here on answers athiests openly hate christians for virtually no reason, and all around the world it seems perfectly acceptable to hate that which the world does not understand. freedom of religion? building a mosque is but a place of worship and we americans think that it is some sort of sign of defeat? my grandmother is christian, does that make her responsible for the burning of several thousand "heretics". illegal immigration, does a 14 year kid actually deserve to die? is he really a "hardened career criminal?" why is it deemed acceptable for us to hate ourselves so much? why would somthing like religion, somthing taht is suposed to preach love and peace, instead encourage hatred and war? what has become of us? if there is a god, allah, or whatever they would be horrified to find out that their worshipers are throwing their lives away on the account of money and power. and are we americans any better? our media biased, our government corrupt and we just go about our lives like nothings wrong? i dont understand it. i hate being hated just because i am an american and i am fed up with being force feed propoganda while the rest of the world still thinks i should go lie down and die. anyone care to correct an angry niave teenager? jd, the voice of an individual are usless, especially since i am only 17. and im not quite so selfless to get put in prison for the cause, not when theres not a good chance for success.

I know it was for me when I first had it, still is to a certain point. I guess the movies make you think its going to be something its not! I am 23 and have been sexually active for a long time. I am with a guy that I love to pieces but I guess that spark in bed seems gone. Maybe it was not really even there!
