With all the awful bills and the segregation, racism and sexism. It's shocking to me- the ultrasound scans for abortions, cutting funding for birth control, the "don't say gay" bill, "prop 8" banning forces members from openly serving.
It shocks me sometimes.
So, what's it like living in the country with those ideas? While I would agree that America IS a very insular country, I don't think insulting their manners in the same sentence/paragraph is the best idea... America does have slavery, and the economic climate isn't looking so rosy for anyone right now, not just Europe. Cat emoticon- Nope, not really. America IS an insular country, but then, most countries as large as the US are. It's just because America has a say in most things that we see how insular you are. China and Russia aren't likely to be fussing about outside their boarders like us folks in Europe. Cat- there is more slavery in the modern world than there was when it was legal to own black slaves. Sadly, a lot of that is sex trafficking and it's in America.
Also, your economic climate in on par with ours. You were even downgraded, we were not. Cat emoticon- No, not remotely. I am however pointing out the flaws in this country you seem so proud of. I understand the flaws in my country.
I do, however, find it sad we have to fall back to the bad stereotypes...
