Best answer: What will you use it for? $3,000 can buy an incredible computer, but you'll need to decide what features are important to you. Are you into photography? Graphic design? Movies and TV? Gaming? Teaching? Work? School? Do you want a desktop or a laptop? The $3,000 computer best for you will be different in each category. For photography, graphic design, or a computer that won't play a vast array of games but won't give you any operating system trouble, you'll probably be interested in a Mac. For movies and TV, I like the HP media center computers. They've got some high-end stuff that's wild. No hardware is foolproof, though, so go for the best service plan money can buy unless you're comfortable servicing most things yourself. For gaming, I think it's worth it to go custom-made in that price range. Too few high-end computers come with everything you could ever desire for your specific gaming needs. Do your research and figure out some of what you want before you go into a tech shop that does custom jobs and drop that figure, though. You may actually want a system that costs less, but too many places will be more than happy to throw in a lot of garbage you don't need just so they can take your money. Make sure you use a very reputable custom place, too--get references! For teaching, work, or school, you probably want a laptop, and you'll have specific features you're interested in. Tablet laptops got a bad rap when they first came out, but most of the bugs have been worked out and I know I'd get one if I were starting my BS all over again. Some majors wouldn't have a use for it, but for teaching or learning science with all those power points we had to print off before class and make notes on--well! Being able to write directly on the screen would have saved countless hours and trees over the course of the semester. That's just one example: a future architect will have different requirements than a future poet. Talk to some tech-savvy upperclassmen for a good idea of what they wished they had, or what served them well. Find someone who can talk about options instead of a blind fanboy. Anyone who says something like "macs are awesome, PCs suck!" is probably too biased to consider your individual needs. Happy shopping! If I had a $3,000 check I HAD to spend on computers, I'd be torn with my own options. I know I need a laptop, but I love the upgradeability of desktops. I'd be tempted to a mid-priced computer in each category. Do keep in mind that computer technology is still running at a breakneck pace, so no $3,000 machine is going to last you ten years. I manage to nurse mine through five-year lifecycles by getting highly upgradeable PCs and asking very little of them toward the end, but if you always want the best of the best you'll be purchasing a new machine every two years or so.

Best answer: If you want to build muscle, keep lifting those weights and skip the cardio on school days. Cardio is also easier to do at home without special equipment, so you can still get it in if you find yourself missing it or your body suffering. Make your time more efficient by changing which muscle groups you work on each day. It doesn't matter what you do on which days, but avoid working out the same muscle groups two days in a row. This not only helps fit your workout into your time slot, but allows muscles to recover and get the full benefit of your workout after each session. Whatever your time constraints, don't skip the warm up or stretching afterwards. The latest research shows that a warm up helps prevent injuries that can result from starting "cold," and increases blood flow to your muscles to make them more productive. I don't understand why stretching afterward increases the benefit of your workout up to 25%, but that's what the research shows. Contrary to what we all learned when we were young, don't stretch before hand! It actually decreases your maximum power output, meaning you can lift much less than your maximum weight, are more prone to injury, and will accomplish less during your workout.

Perhaps some fluke occurred, the stinger was left in, and the venom wasn't squeezed out until an entire week later? It sounds rather unlikely, but with anything this strange and unusual I'd want to see an allergist. Allergy tests aren't 100% accurate, but could help you find a bee/strawberry/etc allergy before it becomes dangerous. There are some symptoms I'm allowed to ignore, but as an allergic asthmatic, my instructions are to take hives very seriously. This one is worth a trip to the doc, bee or no!

I tend to react this way to peanuts, chlorine, and my allergy injections, but my reactions change over time: hives one year, sneezes the next. :-P Allergies are strange, strange things. Recent studies have found that in some allergic reactions, blood pressure can take a steep dive. That would explain the dizziness. If this always happens in the afternoon, what are you eating for lunch? Or is there a place you spend your mornings that might be musty, dusty, or near certain plants or animals? When you have a consistent reaction pattern (every afternoon, for you), it's a clue to hunting down the problem. If you feel fine on weekends, for example, maybe there's something you react to at work, or the breakfast or lunch you only eat on workdays. Good luck!

For some people, an over the counter drug called lactase helps. Most lactose intolerant people I know can still only have very little milk when taking lactase, so be careful and pay attention to how you feel. Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose the way your body no longer can, but it's not as effective as the enzyme your own body used to make. You can still drink coffee in general, but skip the milk or reach for a non-dairy creamer. There are even lactose free milks sold in the world! Stressing your system with Lee's coffee probably isn't worth it, but that's up to you to decide. Enough diarrhea will really tucker you out, and it doesn't help your nutritional or metabolism goals. Good luck!

Make sure drainage in the plants is good, and that actual potting soil is used rather than any kind of outdoor gardening soil. Potting soil is a bit more mold-resistant. Are any of the plants flowers? If so, banish them elsewhere or at least have someone snip off the pollen-laden stamen for you. (or is it the stigmata? 5th grade biology was so long ago!) Living rooms also typically have couches and other upholstered furniture that can't possibly be thrown in to the washing machine, so it's Dust Mite Central. Vacuum (or get someone else to vacuum, because it'll temporarily make it worse) with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA filter. Vacuum anything you can think of, including the sofa and anything else fluffy that doesn't move. Open the heat/AC register vents and vacuum those, too. Hot wash anything possible: removable rugs, curtains, throw pillows, everything. Detergent isn't as important as the heat that kills dust mites. There's also a good allergy fabreeze product that creates a barrier over cushy sofas and such, but it feels crunchy and wears off quickly. I am not able to have any upholstered furniture unless I reupholster it with something dust mite proof, like leather. Good luck with your living room troubleshooting! I hope this wasn't information overkill. Yes, you can absolutely have an allergy you hardly notice until you're miserable. Good luck with that living room!

Best answer: It's time to fetch your recovery CDs! If you've already made them or they came with the computer, go get 'em. If you never made them, make them and use them. I'm not familiar with the programs you used, but nothing is 100%, and windows can become corrupted at times even when non-malicious programs are interacting with it. This certainly sounds like either a nasty bug or corrupted windows, and restoring your computer to factory settings is your best bet. I am assuming that when you "restored" your computer you restored it to the "last known good" configuration, and not to the factory defaults with the recovery CDs. If I'm in error and you're still having these problems even after the recovery CDs, your computer is likely toast. Check the hard drive and motherboard, and talk to a computer tech about the cost of repair vs. the cost of a new machine. ETA: If it's bugging you about new hardware/software issues when you don't have any new stuff, your problem might be as simple as a corrupted driver. Try going through all of your drivers and updating them from their respective company websites. You can do this before running the recovery CDs, which will wipe everything from your PC, unfortunately. It goes without saying, but don't forget to back everything up!

Best answer: I'll answer the questions I know the answer to. I'm not sure about the skin products! Regular beer WILL harm you. There is gluten-free beer in the world if you're really attached to the beverage, though. I drink a rice and sorghum beer because it's easy to find at the grocery, but I once had Greens Gluten Free Discovery Ale, and that was amazing. It tasted a bit like Amstel Light, but tastier. "May contain traces" is something to discuss with your doctor. I'm only allergic to wheat, and don't have celiac disease, so I risk it and pay the price if it's contaminated. Celiac disease can have more grave consequences, so make sure you understand what those are and what you're risking before you decide to eat "may contain traces" foods. Keep up your B12 and iron, but check your vitamins for wheat! Yes, there are pills that use wheat as a binder: grrrr! I even found a gummy vitamin with wheat in it. You didn't ask, but my favorite wheat-free substitutes are Notta Pasta (though there are a lot of good pastas, and a lot of TERRIBLE ones), Pamela's chocolate cake mix, and Chebe pizza crust. I find that gluten-free bread is all terrible unless you toast it (and even then, some are still terrible). If you live near St. Louis, Pi's gluten-free pizza is AMAZING. It's vegetarian, but not vegan. I think there are eggs in the crust. I haven't found a substitute for real bread yet: only cardboard approximations! Dessert-type bread is easy to find, though, as all that sugar and fat could make anything taste good, and the sticky fruit binders hold the bread together in place of gluten. Good luck!
