  • Bandwidth vs Latency?

If we were talking plumbing, bandwidth is how many gallons of water per minute a pipe can support where you cannot push a million gallons of water per minute through a straw. Latency is how long does the water take to get from the source to the destination, is it a straight shot, is your pipe constricted, etc. It would be like watching the news... show more

Latency is how long does the water take to get from the source to the destination, is it a straight shot, is your pipe constricted, etc. It would be like watching the news where if the reporter is far enough overseas, there is a delay from when the question is asked on our end, to the time it is heard and responded to at the other end. The information, once it arrives is at regular speed so the only time latency is a problem is if you are attempting to control something in real time, such as in online gaming.

I think that statement is incorrect. Fear might be born out of insecurity but not love. Real love does not include insecurities.

  • Atheists: what would you do?

Pride has nothing to do with having good reasons to know Gods are impossible. The problems with miracles is that people do seek religious healers or any kind of healers for that matter only for success to be very random and not in favor of a healing.

The proper ingredients came together to naturally form life, even though the ingredients are eternal, the process that is you can only function temporarily until you either wear out or break. You could think of it like a light bulb and the switch that provides power to activate the light. When the switch breaks or wears out, the material that is the light bulb is still there, but the light emitted (you) is gone for good if nobody can fix the switch. Your awareness and what makes you you, is in the form of a magnetic field generated by your brain. Even when alive, there are moments that "you" are gone as your brain is not emitting that magnetic field as when sleeping sometimes or if unconscious for any reason. Upon death, the exact magnetic field that is you can never be generated ever, even if your body could be cloned from DNA.

  • What verifiable evidence supports the claim that the Christian god is real?

The bible is primarily the go to source for supporting Christianity where the search turns to outside of the bible to see if the events are believable or not. Many christians believe many of the prophecies have been fulfilled, which would indeed be miraculous if that were true. Other christians take the outside evidence confirming certain events indeed happened but biasly accept the magical bits just because the event was proved historical. There is certainly a case to be made for christianity or there would be no christians, but it involves squinting your eyes and staying in the shallow pool of reasoning to see and accept that case. I find it interesting that religious scholars who read and study many of the religious holy books including the bible, are unconvinced by the bible to become christians themselves.

The crooks turn to their propaganda games and attempt to create a witch hunt and rally their supportive base with lies in hopes of keeping others from supporting Trump and hopefully have current Trump supporters believe the lies and abandon their support. The problem is that we are seeing real success with Trump in office and if Washington can't force Trump out soon, everyone will begin to see the corruption of Washington and rally behind Trump to continue to clean house.

I believe both occur. The problem is that most christians are a joke and atheists sometimes respond to the expectation of irrationality from christians rather than fully hearing the individual out. I agree that christians do offer their evidence and reasoning for their conclusion. The problem is in the "reasoning" of the evidence by christians. Christians attempt to build a case for a historical Jesus by using a list of people who were all born "after" the supposed death of Jesus. Based on the events described in the bible at the time of the supposed crucifixion, the event could have occurred no later than 33 a.d. where the earliest writer Josephus was not even born until 37 a.d. meaning everyone who wrote after the fact were writing about the legend of Jesus rather than a historical Jesus. There were actual historians who lived in the vicinity of where Jesus supposedly walked who say nothing about him. Then there is the NT itself, where the writers did not actually know a historical Jesus but instead use other written sources to create their stories. Paul/Saul who is the earliest writer claims to have met the spirit of Jesus, but Paul never provides us with any of the sayings of Jesus, even in spiritual form. Paul also walked the same supposed region as Jesus but never bothers to ask the locals about the historical Jesus or do the locals he is preaching to ever bother to mention a Jesus who supposedly had already walked among them. When christians ignore this, it gives the appearance of deceit, willful ignorance or just plain irrationality. On the larger scope of God in general, we have both intelligent creations and natural formations. Christians like to ignore the natural formations and just assert "everything" is created despite the excellent case that it is not. There is also a natural order to existence, which is from simple to complex over time that would make it impossible to "begin" with the finished product of a complex, magical super Being as any kind of real starting point. Christians will never be able to argue a good case for any God much less that the christian God is that God. Atheists understand the reality that these atheists vs. christian debates are not an intellectual debate, they are impossible debates of rational vs. irrational, where intellectual argument have no weight with christians. It becomes an irrational game of christians believing they are intellectually examining their beliefs, when the reality says otherwise.

Celebrations tend to break up our monotonous routines and add spice to our lives. While I understand that JW's attempt to follow a strict, literal interpretation of the Bible, there is a verse in the Bible that does claim there is too much knowledge to be contained in the Bible alone. I cannot remember the exact verse, but it implies you have to think for yourself beyond the Bible, that the Bible is just a foundation to build on. Because of limited space, I suspect celebrations were not included in the Bible even though people celebrated during biblical times. The last supper was sort of a celebratory feast.

  • Would you say this is good logic for a theist to believe in God ?

Where you go wrong in your logic is that you assume one God verses countless number of Gods and Goddesses humans have invented and have contradicting ways of landing in hell. Second you poorly assume that an "Intelligent" Being cares about "belief", that is what religions sell you so you show up for church. Finally, what if the test of the real God was to leave no evidence to see who would use the brain He gave us to conclude there are no Gods instead of believing in a man made God on blind faith? In this case, God is seeking atheists and agnostics for heaven because of their ability to reason and leave theists behind to preach to each other how their man made Gods are the one true God. There is a multitude of ways to win or lose making Pascal's Wager useless because we could all win or we could all lose. With that being the case, it seems using the best possible reasoning has the best chance of success, meaning atheists and agnostics would win in this case and theists would lose for blindly picking.

Religious faith is quite different, it is placing trust that does motivate a path but unlike scientists theists refuse to admit when a path is a failure and often attempt to pass that failure off as knowledge of success.
