• Is curling or dying a child’s hair really “sexualizing” them?

I’ve heard of a celebrity who dyed her grade school child’s hair and people thought she sexualized the little girl. Their welfare seems more than fine. She is homeschooled, plays sports, and her parents can afford the best resources. But for some reason people thought this hair dying (later on curling) business will make her vulnerable to pedophiles. The ONLY thing that can possibly make her at the slightest risk is being in spotlight or the media showing their lives. Even then, this child seems to have adults to protect her IMO. She’s safer than most kids today with all the resources provided. Anyways, it was just some blonde highlights that the kid asked for. Is it sexualizing them if you alter your child’s hair for aesthetic purposes?

Best answer: Many film actors do TV roles these days, because they often offer a better challenge or experience. Too many movies are shallow, while serialized TV offers the opportunity to get a really meaty role. This is especially true of prestige dramas on cable, which usually only run for 10 episodes or so, leaving them plenty of time for other jobs. For example, Michael Shannon is currently in the miniseries Waco. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern are starring in HBO's Big Little Lies. Ewan McGregor and Billy Bob Thornton have starred in Fargo. Jane Fonda is starring in Grace and Frankie, Christian Slater in Mr. Robot, Jessica Lange in American Horror Story, Susan Sarandon in Feud, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in True Detective, Jude Law in The Young Pope, Kevin Bacon in The Following, Vera Farmiga in Bates Motel, and more. A few years ago Dustin Hoffman said TV is the best it's ever been, while movies are the worst they've ever been.

I'm wondering to hear other people's perspectives on this. I have a four-month work contract at a big tech company and need to get short-term housing in an expensive area. I can rent a room from a lady for $800 per month (including all utilities). The lady has a husband and a toddler but they would live on the other side of the house. My second option is to get a studio for $1300 per month (including utilities). I would need to buy a mattress, renter's insurance, etc.. but it would be in a nice apartment and I wouldn't need to worry about guests when my husband or friends come to visit me. For a four month period of time, an extra $500+ per month is a lot of money, but it might be worth the peace and freedom. I'll be making pretty good income so it's more a question of how much the saving capacity is worth it. Thoughts?

  • For Republicans: Are you happy that Trump endorsed Mitt Romney’s candidacy for the Senate seat of Utah. Mitt Romney was defeated by?

Best answer: Look, I'm no Republican, but Romney is running in Utah which is a Highly Republican state. He is also a Moderate who has criticized Trump repeatedly. If Trump wants to endorse him, fine. I think Trump simply wants to back a winning horse, because I'm pretty sure Romney will win the race.

Before you say no, think about this. The status quo is unacceptable and a significant portion of Americans are urging action, including the next group of adults, so some form of action must be taken. I'm not offering a comprehensive solution. I have always supported the right to own a gun and will do so until the law is changed. I imagine many people, particularly center-right, also feel that the law must be respected, so if the Second Amendment changed, they'd respect the change. They'd grumble but comply. I don't want to ban guns, but we can't continue as we are. We can't.

  • Have you ever had surgery?

Best answer: I’ve had my wisdom teeth out (if that even counts as surgery) but that’s it.

I’m lucky enough to have good health.

If I ever had surgery again, it would probably be to correct my vision.
