	I&#039;m really interested in studying ancient cultures and religion when I&#039;m older.
For example, I want to study Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece... how the ancient civilizations came to the religious conclusions they did, why we view the universe the way we do (including Gods, mythology, etc.) What is the name for this profession?
Anthropology and Archaeology don&#039;t really fit what I&#039;m trying to explain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

	but, what proof do you have that every single part of it is historically accurate. and how do you decide which of those parts are metaphor?

please give me some credible, (not just christian websites, although you can include a few if you want), references for every single passage in the bible, using archaeology and verified authentic ancient documents and inscriptions to support your answer.

thanks.

<description>
	I went to school and worked really hard, was always top of the class and have numerous certificates of achievement along with Head teachers commendations. I was always the outsider at school with many of my &quot;friends&quot; continually saying &quot;You&#039;re posh, look at you, posh car, always get what you want, (no i am not a spoilt brat. I always waited, and never had a tantrum), etc. &quot;
I was brought up with Manners, to be polite respect my elders and always act with dignity, grace and poise.
My exam results put me in a position to go to Grammar school as my parents wanted this. I also gained exam results that got me head hunted for Universities.
I am at University studying for a BA (Hons) in Arts and Humanities, particularly Art History and Literature. I’m interested in Archaeology, Surrealism art (Salvador Dali is my favourite artist), classical Music, and History. I’m also hoping to gain a History of Art diploma with London Art College. And I’m looking into Cambridge University.
I am also a part qualified AAT Accountant and hoping to continue with CIMA and perhaps ACCA at a later date.

It is my wish to send my children to Public School even though I will have to pay fees.
I grew up around Bewdley in Shropshire with family in Yorkshire, and Ludlow. Lived in the west midlands area for convenience and only during the school week except during Winter as travelling to the country was more inconvenient. Holidays and most weekends were spent in the country. I particularly have a love for Hampshire as it seems so peaceful and my perfect area for living.

I came from a very good family on both sides, My Mothers side, well my Grandfather and his family before he married, owned land in Poland, and there was a priest in the family. The family also have lineage to the following; Counts, Countesses, Barons, Baronesses and Knights .
The family were captured and tortured during WW2 because of their social class. My Grandmothers side of the family owned businesses, and also have nobility ranking dating back through history. There were many males of our family who were in the military.
Mum was always looked after by my father who didn&#039;t really like her working, but she did work as a teaching assistant to avoid boredom. We have traced our Polish roots back to 500bc when the Goths were around and we have connections to Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia etc.

 My father was a police officer/dog handler/SAS/Grenadier Guard/Security Guard/and Scenes of Crime plan drawer. The Archbishop of Canterbury is in his family lineage. and he is related to a famous racing driver (Formula One) who is his cousin. He also went to Art College.

My brother lives in Australia and owns his own building firm, he has built his own home many times in various locations with one location even being on the beach. His current home has an back garden view of dolphins swimming past. He is married to accountant.

My step-sister lives in Sweden and is married to a Pilot and owns a large home with approximately 5 acres of land next to woodland. They also have a yacht which is located nearby. My Niece is a trainee Doctor, and my Nephews are studying.

<description>
	The Old Testament is a false history of the world. It should not be trusted”
– Charles Darwin

&quot;I did not then in the least doubt the strict and literal truth of every word in the Bible, I soon persuaded myself that our Creed must be fully accepted&quot; - Letters of Charles Darwin

Well which is it Darwin? You just contradicted yourself. Is the Bible &quot;a false history of the world&quot; or is &quot;every word literal truth?&quot;

Archaeology has uncovered numerous cities, artifacts and inscriptions that validate the historical accuracy of the Old Testament. Sargon’s Palace, Sennacherib&#039;s Prism and Nineveh, Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, The Kings of Persia - Artaxerxes, Cyrus the Great and Darius, The Pharoah&#039;s of Egypt - Rameses, Tirhakah, Necho and Shalmaneser’s Obelisk just to name a few.

We know the first statement by Darwin is a lie and you know what happens to liars.

I&#039;m an experienced caver, I love looking into old mine workings and doing photography, I&#039;ve been to Wales/Cornwall and N England, all of these places are very good;
 In Frace they are a bit funny about exploring mines and caves, so can anyone give me any other destinations across Europe where I could spend a good week with my group looking at Mining archaeology, both underground and surface;

Kind regards

<description>
	Okay, so this holiday season, I know I&#039;m planning on buying American goods. It&#039;s hard but it&#039;s a nice challenge. This is a challenge, to inspire everyone a little bit. I am going to list 3 &#039;families&#039; with personalities. You can choose 1 family (or more) and &#039;buy&#039; gifts for them, but they must be American. Just list the family you did, and the gift you bought for each person. Each family has 6 figures to buy for, so one gift for each. Here&#039;s a good website to inspire you:
http://www.buyamerican.com/index.html

*The Jones family*:
*Dad- James-52 years old- Sales Representative- James is a guys guy. He likes sports, cars, TV and other electonics, and food. James usually wears casual clothing when not working, and he has barbeques with friends as often as he can.
*Mom- Joanne- 50 years old- Interior designers- Joanne is an interior designer, and loves anything to do with the home. She likes cooking, and decorating stuff for her home. Joanne especially likes unique, creative items.
*Son- James- 21 years old- College Senior- James is a college senior and is a star athlete. He loves all sports, particularly football, and anything to do with them. He is also a decent student and likes to find new things to help him study.
*Son- Jack- 19 years old- College Sophomore- Jack is also in college and loves music. He is an avid guitar player, and loves gadgets and gizmos to go along with that. He is also into comedy, and loves anything, including clothing that reflects that.
*Daughter- Julie- 17 years old- Julie is an environmental activist. She loves anything green, expecially clothing. Julie also is into gardening, and loves anything with that, especially things that are environmentally concious, yet young and hip.
*Cat- Jules- Jules is spoiled and doesn&#039;t play with toys anymore, but prefers treats.

*Ryan Family*:
*Dad- Robert- 45 years old- lawyer- Robert is an achiever. He loves his family, but is devoted to his job. Robert loves anything for his office, especially stuff that also shows his love for his family. Robert drinks coffee every morning, and loves anything coffee!
*Mom- Rhonda- 42 years old- lawyer- like her husband, Rhonda is also a lawyer. She also loves anything to do with her family and job, but is also quite a fashionista. Rhonda loves clothes and accessories but at the same time, likes to look professional.
*Daughter- Rachel- 14 years old- Rachel is into fashion, just like her mom. Rachel loves texting, facebook and reality shows, and anything to do with clothes, shoes, accessories or technology.
*Son- Raymond- 12 years old- Raymond is sort of a geek. He loves seeing how things work, and is really into studying archaeology and dinosaurs.
*Daughter- Riley- 10 years old- Riley has quite an imagination. She loves making things up and is really theatrical. Riley is a great singer and actress and loves anything that she can use to make up stories or plays, or that reflects her talents.
*Grandma- Regina- 73 years old- Regina is a wonderful grandmother who is the homemaker. Regina cooks and cleans the house while Robert and Rhonda are working. She loves her grandkids, and anything to make them happy, including treats and such. She also has quite a collection of &#039;I love my grandchildren&#039; items and loves to add to it.

<description>

*Smith family*:
*Dad- Sam- 34 years old- teacher- Sam is a devoted dad, as well as a traveler and adventurer. Sam loves anything to do with his kids, or anything to make family vacations a little easier.

She loves anything to help her clean and cook faster, as she has to take care of her kids at the same time. Most people don&#039;t realize that at one point in history, the Jews had two functioning temples existing at the same time. In a strange twist, the second temple built hundreds of miles away, confirmed the rebuilding of the temple and city of Jerusalem by Ezra and Nehemiah.

In the late 1800s, ancient papyri showed up in Middle East antiquities markets that intrigued archaeologists. Written in Aramaic, the Jewish documents referred to a temple, but incredibly it was not the temple in Jerusalem but a second one built hundreds of miles away in Egypt.

	What is the worst thing that has happened to you on a dig site.

At the beginning of field work one year I was cleaning some tarps out of a 2 meter pit when I noticed my hands were covered in this dark viscous liquid. There wasn&#039;t much light in the pit, so I thought it was mud and wiped it on my jeans. Then the stench hit me. Something had gotten into the pit over the winter and was in the black putrefaction stage of decomposition. It was the foulest smell I have ever encountered and it was all over me. I didn&#039;t smell right for a week.

<description>
	Lack of understanding as evidence for the existence of God is a logical fallacy. Whether it&#039;s holes in the theory of evolution, or not knowing how our universe as we know it came to be.

It seems to me the only valid evidence for God would be direct experience or knowledge of fulfilled bible prophecies. I do not have the former, so is my only validation for God&#039;s existence the latter? Is the only way for people like me to believe in God an extensive background in ancient history and archaeology? That seems rather absurd to me.

Also how can the bible be a valid source of evidence when we have none of the original old testament and new testament today; also that it is known that throughout history much scripture and documents that diminish the bible&#039;s credibility have been silenced by those of the likes of Constantine or the church itself.
@dbzgalaxy: is it that ridiculous to equate those type of experiences simply as growing as a person instead of divine intervention?
@mommy of 2: You do have proof that your 10x great grandfather existed, because you are here. Never has it been seen in nature that any living creature came into existence without parents. It would take much more faith to believe your 10x great grandfather doesn&#039;t exist rather than believe he existed.
RKBentley: Your conclusion still rests on lack of understanding and imagination. You are only able to imagine 2 different alternatives when there could be more. Leading scientific theory (M theory) describes countless universes coming in and out of existence due to the collision of membranes. Belief that something must come from nothing takes as much faith as believing that nothing cannot and never &quot;existed&quot;.
@RKbentley: Also your painter analogy still is based on lack of understanding or imagination. Evolution does not need a painter. Whether you believe it is actually true or not does not matter, it simply shows there are possible alternatives. Existence also doesn&#039;t need a painter if non-existence is impossible. Maybe the universe came to exitence, but that doesn&#039;t mean it came into existence from nothing. Universes could be coming into existence and going out of it repeatedly as M theory, String theory, and super gravity theory suggest. Again whether these are true or not can be debatable, I&#039;m merely showing that the only possible answer to these questions is not God.
@pygonza: &quot;you have thousands of living eye witnesses who can attest that God has revealed himself to them.&quot; We have zero first-hand accounts of God&#039;s revelation written at the time they supposedly happen. We have zero original documents. There is no quality evidence for God&#039;s revelation there is only hearsay.

	Do modern hunter-gatherer societies of today typify domestic homicide, or does the violence rarely reach the point of homicide between mates?
And does our archaeological record support the claim that our evolutionary past has seen intimate partner homicide? (Perhaps skull fracturing from weapon/tools evident of domestic abuse by a partner with intention of homicide)

Or, where can I find resources to find the answer to this question?

<description>
	i am so stressed and upset about university next year.
i feel like nothing is going to work out for me.
i am on A-levels AAB at the minute, but i was going to go for a course lower down than that (BBB) and its only offered at &quot;vocational&quot; universities, ones that are looked down on.
my friends are all going off to these prestigue universities and asking why im not living up to my potential, why am i doing such a bad course, and going to a dump. they are forever mocking my course choice. and i feel embarrassed now when someone asks me what i want to do. i cringe. and ive realised im not proud of where im going.
everyones getting excited about next year except me.
the course im doing will hopefully supply me with a job straight away and its more secure. its speech therapy, but theres no prospects is there?
all my friends are doing more academic studies like english literature, anthropology, archaeology, law, biochemistry... etc
but where would this get me?
i have no real passions but i dont see what else i can do...
i posted this in the psychology section cause im made to feel so bad about this everyday. i thought that this job would be a nice secure profession, working with children and helping others. but it&#039;s obviously not respected. and i keep thinking it wont be challenging enough for me. i will be looked down on by others.
im so scared and hate that others are laughing at me...
how am i supposed to know what i want? they tell me every day that im making the wrong decision... but when i try to argue with them they always win,saying that theyre more likely to be hired, will have a better experience.
their lives just seem like theyre gonna be more glamorous, and brilliant going off to these universities whereas mines won&#039;t.
help me. what can i do? i need guidance.. i feel left out i think..

	Either on the side of Late Antiquity, Mediterranean Archaeology or Egyptology. Quite different, I know!
Should clarify, specifically for post graduate study.

<description>
	&quot;It&#039;s the historicity.

Archaeology has shown us, again and again, that the Bible is:
1 - Accurately transmitted. That is, we can be sure from the archaeological record that the documents we have today are true and accurate copies of what was written thousands of years ago.
2 - Historically accurate. That is, the people, places, titles, leaders, and events that the Bible records cannot all be validated and proven true, but none of them can be disproven. The historical record of the Bible has been verified again and again by new discoveries that support the Biblical version of events.
3 - Prophetically accurate. In other words, prophetic writings have later come true, hundreds and even thousands of years after they were written. These prophetic writings are specific and testable. For instance, while the 1st Jewish temple still stood, it was predicted that the Babylonian empire would destroy the temple, and that it would be rebuild by Cyrus. Later, the Babylonians attacked Israel and destroyed the temple. Still later, the Babylonians were overthrown by the Medeo-Persians, under the leadership of Cyrus, who helped the Jewish people rebuild their temple. That&#039;s a pretty specific prediction, historically verifiable, and written more than 100 years prior to Cyrus&#039; rule.

There can be no doubt: the Bible is unparalleled in its accuracy. With such a pedigree, it makes logical sense to trust it.&quot;

is that true?

i&#039;ve read a ton of articles like this one: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/03/world/africa/03exodus.html?ex=1333252800&amp;en=6f654bfd6c4fbcd8&amp;ei=5088&amp;partner=rssnyt&amp;emc=rss

	I am looking for a list of places that do Classical themed courses in the UK, preferably in Wales, but in England as well. Especially if they offer Greek and Latin modules and I don&#039;t have to have done a formal qualification in either language beforehand.

Can anyone help me out?

<description>
	Hey guys!
I really have no idea what kinds of universities I should be applying to as match schools. I&#039;ve gotten quite a diverse variety of answers to this question, so I figured I should take it to the all-knowing realm of the internet. Thus far people have given me names from UPenn to Penn State to community colleges. I personally do not feel at all confident in applying to very competitive schools, and though a fair amount of people agree with me in this sentiment, I have been urged by others to do so. I suppose it would be helpful for me to post my stats, no?

Objective
Unweighted GPA: 3.94
Weighted GPA: 5.9
Class Rank: 11/441
SATs: CR 760, M 660
SAT IIs: Lit 740, US History 720
APs: All 5s
Intended Major: Art History/Archaeology
White/female
I have the most difficult senior course load, and am taking calculus outside of school due to a scheduling conflict.

Subjective
Recs: Very good, one from a professor at Brown (I took courses there this summer)
In School Extracurriculars: Assistant editor of the school paper, art editor of the school lit mag and winner of the 2009 cover design contest, public relations manager of the GSA, senior mentor (advises freshmen), World Affairs Club member (have seen many important political figures speak, i.e. Condi, Bernard Lewis, Al Gore, etc), Model Senate Senator, First ever female fly system technician of stage crew, Cappie critic (published in several newspapers)
I have done all of these activities for all four years.
Out of School Extracurricular: Intern at the Franklin Institute Science Museum, job as a lifeguard/swim instructor at the YMCA, coach of Special Olympics gymnastics team, job shadowed curators and docents at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Awards: National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, distinguished honor roll

I know the subjective stuff is solid, but I&#039;m worried about my numbers. All in all, I just really love to learn and want to find a place where I can actively do so among passionate professors and students. Any input is appreciated, positive or negative! I really just want honesty. :)

Thanks a bunch! If you need additional stats, ask me to post!

<description>
	Hey ;) I&#039;m 15 years old and I live in Melbourne, Australia.

Next year (year 10 at school) we have to do work experience. It&#039;s sort of like a week off from school working in... a working environment.

I really want to work at Borders or Dymocks (book stores)... I don&#039;t know why. I just love bookstores! They&#039;re fascinating and I never get bored with them. I want to apply at the ones I visit constantly.

The only thing is, my friends are telling me that places like Borders and Dymocks aren&#039;t &#039;career-ish&#039; places; to which I retaliate &#039;it&#039;s work experience!&#039;

Anyway, I want to be a barrister, and a novelist on the side of that (I&#039;m also interested in history and artefacts... so archaeology.)

What should I do? I think I&#039;ll send my CV and cover letter to newspapers too, like The Age, etc.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

<description>
	I&#039;ll keep it simple and spare writing a book for backstory; I find some people&#039;s questions hard to read when they type a life story for a simple question.

FACTS:
-Florida Native (no major caves)
-Major schools in the area do not offer classes on Speleology
-Most local schools DO have a Marine Biology program, even the community colleges.
-I&#039;d rather do Speleology; see below.

ASSUMPTIONS
-Caves are caves IMO; there&#039;s a set amount, it seems to be a small field; the possibility to find something major is only getting worse, much like Archaeology.
-The earth&#039;s surface, being mostly water, I assume there will always be a job in Marine Biology, and I really won&#039;t have to relocate.

OPINIONS/PREFERENCES
- Prefer Speleology; I like the dark, I have an interest in cave dwelling creatures... I just think there&#039;s heavy competition in this small field...
-Still love Marine Biology; it&#039;s local... most creatures have been cataloged unless you go DEEP. Seems like you can shop around as far as where you want to work, and with the deep water and space being the only frontiers left... it seems like there&#039;s more to be found.

Any advice? Professional or Average Joe...
I am currently a 2nd year college student and have mostly poked around until now as I was just &quot;doing the right thing&quot; by going to college, I even got pulled out a couple semesters by the military being a reservist. Now that I&#039;m career-oriented and trying to make something of myself... I really can&#039;t hurt myself by changing majors as my classes have been random up until this point. So that&#039;s not a factor.

	What problems does looting present for archaeologists attempting to reconstruct past lifeways at a site? How does looting harm our undertanding of the past? Or, does it have little effect? What about collecting? There are some collectors who, although lacking professional training and degrees in archaeology, employ systematic excavation methods and even sometimes publish their findings -- what do you think about the activities of these avocational (amateur) archaeologists?

	I have an end of term assignment that is coming up and I need to get started on; however, I&#039;m having the hardest of times settling on a topic.

Ideally, I&#039;d like to focus on a specific &#039;problem&#039;, &#039;question&#039; or &#039;criticism&#039; within the Aegean Bronze Age that can either be solved/answered or analyzed using Archaeology; such as theory, excavation and testing/analysis.

Any ideas or directions of focus?

As always, thanks for your help!!
