Ectoplasmator Runscape?

ok so i finally got the entire rob and the ectoplasmator on runescapes new event, but what does it do and how do you use it?

"While it remains within a player's inventory, the ectoplamator will give Prayer experience after killing ghosts, similar to the bonecrusher."
