How to make an mp3 file start playing automatically at a preset time?

Question

The idea is I want to leave my PC turned on, and let an mp3 file start executing by itself (suppose through VLC) at a preset time. That is, I want a song/music to suddenly start playing by itself at a predefined time.

What relevant software can help me do that (if it is at all possible)?

For windows go to control panel -> Administrative tools -> schedule task

Create new task to start VLC and play file.
