If you are renting a house can your landlord make you responsible for fixing the furnace?

    Landlord is responsible for fixing the furnace, except for things like changing the filter. If the landlord lives out of the area, he can put terms in the lease telling you to call the furnace repair place, and report repair cost to him for approval. If the house gets too cold, call your city housing department for help.
