My 1974 Kawasaki g3ssd?

My 1974 Kawasaki g3ssd runs great and idles fine however when i take it above 20-30 mphs it will start to hiccup and then just shut down. I will then have to wait a bit to start it back up.. I think it may be getting to much fuel but not sure what do you think?

undo the gas tank cap....now close it again with a drinking straw over the gasket that seals the tank.... this will leave a small air gap.. that stops suction in the tank... now ride the bike & see if its good...

this eliminates the problem of a blocked air vent...

if the bike is good.. CLEAN the vent..

if the problem is still there..

fit a new fuel filter... or clean the one thats on the bike...

run the bike as above... when it shuts down.. pull in the clutch.. coast to a stop... pull out the spark plugs & have a look at them... this will tell you if its too much fuel....
