I hate to tell you, but honestly, that is a piece of junk. I would rather buy an 88 dollar hiking stick.
Personally, I cannot imagine grinding away indoors on something like that for very long. I would be much more inspired to get outdoors and do 40 or 50 miles on a real bike, or just hike if you can't afford decent equipment.
I happen to know something about fitness bikes, as I helped design the original Cybex bike. You need to get closer to a grand to get a decent stationary machine. Go into a fitnesss club and see what they are using, or go to a specialty store and try out different types.

If you're thinking of investing in a piece of workout equipment for cardio, have you considered getting a good cardio/fat loss-based workout video? For example, Jillian Michaels has some really great and inexpensive videos.

Here's the advantages to a GOOD cardio workout video:
    - You're using many different muscles in different ways, it is a true full body workout. With a stationary bike, as you say, it is mainly focused on your legs.
    - A video will do better at getting your heart rate up. This can be more effective for fat loss, which means more calories in less time.
    - I love biking outdoors during the summer, but I personally find stationary bikes to be the most boring thing on the planet. Why not spend half the time doing a video that is actually fun?
    - Videos generally require minimum or no equipment, so it takes up less room and costs less.

There's my $.02. Let us know what you end up doing!

Do some research on HIIT (High Impact Interval Training) and it may give you some new ideas.
