Why some people are lefty while others righty? Is it controlled by genes?

Some use their right hand more and are righty and others are lefty??
Is it hereditary and controlled by genes?

it has to do with which side of the brain controls language. In a vast majority of people, the left side of the brain controls language, which also requires fine motor control of the vocal cords. Since the left side of the brain controls the right hand side of the body, the fine motor control of our vocal cords also give us the bonus of fine control of the muscles in the fingers on our right hand. Those people who have the right brain controlling language also tend to be left-handed. When fine motor control is not required, people can use both hands equally well, such as rowing a boat or controlling the steering wheel of a car.

The situation is reversed in parrots. Most parrots that have the ability to mimic sound have that ability controlled by the right brain. Therefore most parrots are also left footed.

Possible. Everyone has a dominated side. The left hemisphere of your brain controls the right side of your body and vice versa. Euer heard the phrase "left handed, right minded"? I'm left-handed, my mother's left-handed, her mother is a lefty too, but her mother (my great grandmother) was a righty, but her mother (my great great grandmother) was a lefty. So that's first generation: lefty, second: right, third: left, forth: left, and fifth: left. But my aunt's (right handed) sister-in-law is right handed with a right handed mother and a left handed daughter.

i'm a natural right handed person, but i taught myself more like forced myself to be able to use my left hand the same as the right. It was so hard learning the coordination, but now i'm truely ambidextrious. Most people are born Right handed. I don't know why some are left maybe they had a twin that died in the womb but they're the suriving one. one was right one was left take out right only left
