Is there any free anti virus software?

Question

Where can I get some free anti virus software? The software that came with my computer expires tomorrow. I know nothing about anti virus software or where to find it. Thanks!

If your preloaded software is Norton, and you wish to remove it properly after it expires, I recommend you use their special removal tool. You can download it from here:

In answer to your question...for three years, I paid for Kaspersky Internet Security. I have nothing but praise for it, but many of the free products have become so good, I decided to take that route. Try downloading the free version of Avast Antivirus. Install it and get updates. Here's a link:

Now download the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM). Again...install it and get updates. Here's a link:

These two programs won't conflict with one another, so long as you don't try to run them both at the same time.

Thanks! I have to agree. Kaspersky is what I had that expired and it worked great. I ended up installing Avast.

I recommend AVG along with malwarebytes. They work well together and are free. Both of them have premium editions that are a little better. You can purchase it pretty cheap if you go through someone who gets them bulk.

Best ones are (all free)
Microsoft Security Essentials (actually one of the best scanners)
malwarebytes (in case of a nasty virus)
spyware search and destroy (for little spyware issues)
and get CCleaner (cleans up internet junk)

OO and dont forget avast! its pretty good as well

AVG free 2012 is by far the best free anti virus software out...go to google, yahoo or even download.com and just type in best free anti virus software and be the judge for yourself.

I sure hope I had an answer for that, I got my antivirus program from office depot for 50 bucks and lasts for a year
