In answer to your question...for three years, I paid for Kaspersky Internet Security. I have nothing but praise for it, but many of the free products have become so good, I decided to take that route. Try downloading the free version of Avast Antivirus. Install it and get updates. Here's a link:

Now download the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM). Again...install it and get updates. Here's a link:

These two programs won't conflict with one another, so long as you don't try to run them both at the same time.
