Problems with Java Runtime Environment?

I'm having an issue with Java when I'm trying to play Minecraft. It will randomly close and create an error log for me. I've seen loads of fix and repair suggestions with none working so far. Can anyone help me?

Additional Details

Its not an issue with updating java. I've done that a few times.

I was getting this problem for a while when my video card overheated. I turned down the frame rate. Because the graphics are so primitive, Minecraft can try to render 100s or more frames per second. limit it to 40 or 60 or something and it should clear up the problem.

I also updated my video card driver, but I don't think that was what helped(I use ATI radeon 3650). Although on the minecraft forums I see that updating video cards helped numerous people with the bug.
