What is FF_protection application?

I don't know much about computers, so this may be a stupid question, but... What is FF_protection application? It's set to run on start up, and I don't even what it is.
Can someone tell me if it's safe/necessary? Should it run on start up?

This is the Free Fall Protection Application, which attempts to protect your laptop from damage if it detects that it is in freefall. It's completely safe and it tends to be on Dell and other specific computers.
