Please help with this easy math problem!?

In a pizza eating contest, Darren ate 1/3 of an 18 inch pizza in 5/6 of a minute.

What would be his unit rate of pizzas per minute eaten?

he would have eaten 0.12 inches of pizza every second:

6 inches in 50 seconds.

Now divide 6 by 50 to get how many pieces of pizza per second which would be 0.12 inches per second.

    .4 pizzas/min or 2/5 pizza/min

    You set it up as a ratio 1/3 : 5/6
    Then solve the ratio so that the right side is 1. First multiply each side o f the ratio by 6, so that you get 2:5. Then Divide each side of the ratio by 5, so that you get 2/5 (.4) : 1.

    think of it this way if you eat 2 hot dogs in 1/2 a minute. how many do you eat in a minute
    2/(1/2)=2*2=4

    (1/3)/(5/6)=(1/3)(6/5)=2/5

    he eats 2/5 of a pizza in a minute
