Why is africa a physiographic mirror of it's self north and south of the equator?

i think it's because africa above and below the equator are both in the low and high latitudes, or tropic and temperate zones..
if u look at a world map, u'll see that a little tiny bit of north africa stretches into the temperate zone, and just a little bit of south africa stretches into the temperate zone..
