Your mind is too active. Turn on some background noise like a fan.

First, make sure your alarm is set but get the alarm clock out of site. If you lay there staring at the time you will never fall asleep.

Next, do you have a bathtub? If so, take a nice hot bath, put in some shower gel, bubble bath or if you don't have any throw in a nice tea bag, chamomile if you have it and sit down and relax. If you only have a shower take a relaxing shower.

Put on some nice relaxing music, I like classical. Also, just try to lay still and concentrate on taking long deep breathes, this will relax you, breathe slowly in, hold for 5 then slowly out hold for 5 and repeat.

Do not try exercising or going for a walk, that will only wake you up more. Good luck

you've got to lay down and get really comfortable, close your eyes and repeat in your head over and over again, "go to sleep" and you keep saying it over and over really slowly.... basically bore yourself to sleep without over thinking.

lthis idea sounds sucky, but it works for me.

4 SLEEP AIDES Like simply sleep I can take and be fine (even in 6 hours)

hmmm cradle your head in your hands under your back of your head
and rock back and forth right to left. it's a soothing motion and it worked for me once in summer camp. i HATED it there and could not sleep but this helped.
But I've been in your predicament........can't sleep, have to be at work in a few hours, gonna wake up grouchy! Otherwise, try a music channel that's jazz or something soft and soothing

Well, you can do something that will strain you, like a 10 min upbeat cardio exercise then as soon as that happens, take a REALLY WARM shower or bath. Hot water and steam makes you sleepy. That's what I do when I cant sleep. ^.^

Get off the computer. Turn off the light. Close your eyes. Why do you have to work on Sundays? It is the day of rest.

Simply gettting off the computer, turning off any lights, and keeping the quiet will help you get to sleep. (By the way, milk doesn't have enough tripsin (the substance that makes you sleepy) to get you to sleep)

turn the tv on if you have to, but just lay in your bed, relax, don't think about tomorrow, just let yourself fall asleep.

Picture a tranquil setting, with everything at peace. Sounds mega cheesy but it works if you stick with it.

You can also replay the day's events in your head, going backwards from the time you lay down in bed. It works too.

  • Answerer 17

Lay on your bed, with your legs straight and your hands at your sides. Take deep breathes and clear you mind of any and all thoughts. If you have trouble doing this, think of one solid color, like a wall of orange for example. Every time you exhale, let you entire body fall limper and limper. You may start to itch but ignore them. Just let you thoughts and your senses fade away and you will be ready to fade into sleep.
